Ronan Arjun Maher (RAM) - 2025

I’d have him playing off the left of a 4231. Pato like. It’d fit him like a glove. Can’t see Sadler ever doing that. I can see him being offered a new contract in the summer just to protect our development compensation. He’ll flourish somewhere else. Might do here under a different coach

Even if we are destined to be permanently playing Sadler’s preferred Kick and Rush, in a 532, could he not play in left midfield, as a better alternative as a midfielder than McEntee or Allen, when Lakin is rested or out of favour?

Just don’t see him fitting in with Sads style of play. Get what your saying, but don’t see him using RAM myself. Like i say he’d flourish here in a more progressive, passing football team. Which won’t happen while Mat is the coach. Just my opinion of course

Maher is easily our most technical player bar adomah and to not find a place for him as effort trumps talent is very very annoying how he doesn’t get time but Comley and josh Gordon do is a tragedy

Because they’re players in totally different positions?

Tamworth only 5 points off the playoffs, although teams above have games in hand

Minor miracle if they achieve that, Andy Peaks should get manager of the year at that level as they could’ve just clocked off after losing to Spurs as they were well clear of bottom 4 at that point.

This has been a very good loan for him, what he needed to kickstart his career and anyone who saw Tamworth play in the FA Cup will know they’re even more direct with their long throws than what Sadlerball is so shows he’s the one they want to play through when they keep it on the ground.

I think he’s ready now for a proper chance next season but the complication will be going up to league one and perhaps not being ready for that level as it’s a big step up now from league two.

‘Not good enough to play our midfield’
Great point…Stirk Comley McEntee Lakin. We are truly blessed.

He is flourishing at Tamworth, they are as long ball as you get (understandable given they’re part timers).

I think that’s just a weak excuse as even direct teams have the odd flair player in final third who can beat a few players and create something by himself.

When I saw him at Tamworth in pre season I thought RAM still needed to fill out a bit as he was being muscled off the ball too easily so he must be showing great strength if he’s standing out at national league level on a weekly basis.

Great to see him thrive at Tamworth. Get what you’re saying, i just feel in a more footballing team he would flourish a lot. Just my opinion of course. It’ll be interesting what happens at the end of the season with him

RAM has come on as second half substitute against Scotland U21.

He is number 24. Lipsuic is 22 if he comes on.

Lipsuic won a penalty in the last few minutes, which was saved.

I could see RAM playing in the left sided 8 role for sure.

The issue is he doesn’t run about a lot and is primarily creative.

I value your opinions @Thanatos and though we probably view players and the running of the club slightly differently, I’m sensing a little dig at Sadler in your comments about Maher.

So, do you think Sadler can change or do you think RAM needs to move on in the summer?

Tamworth are a good club but we had Jellis from them and they currently have Maher. Different positions, you might argue, but still midfielders. Personally, I think that we are nurturing Maher but have no intention of releasing him in the summer. What are your views?

Also O’Kelly and Byfield were really clever forwards in their day and Waddock was an incredible midfielder who graced the top division at QPR and represented his country. Are you implying that Sadler is too stubborn to listen to his coaching staff?

More of a right to reply than a dig (as I say, you are a very devoted fan and on a forum, everybody has a right to let off steam); however, given our position in the table, you seem quite critical of late. Whilst I’m well aware of current form, both the players and the fans may well be feeling the pressure.

For what it’s worth, I think being a football supporter in the final 10 games of the season feels like torture. I work long hours in the week in order to look forward to 3pm on a Saturday afternoon, but, I don’t know about you, currently the games bring a sense of dread and fear.

We are not accomplished athletes or professional coaches on here (I presume), so imagine how players in their early 20s (most of our squad) feel…

It’s a mixed bag of emotions desperately hoping for the best dreading the worst but would settle for another draw at the end of the day and hit 70 points

Feels like we have been in sight of but not managed to edge over 70 points for an eternity now. Hopefully, today is the day.

Perhaps the plan is he can still replace what Hutchinson grew into doing but they just didn’t think he was ready to do it this season.

Laughable if that is still the thinking given he’s ripping it up in the league below and getting ROI under 21 caps now.

What is certain is you just can’t let him go out the door as he’s shaping up to be a real asset for the club with international recognition. He will also want first team assurances with a new deal offered I’m sure.

…and might tell us to do one at contract renewal. He will be being watched.

Leaves Tamworth on April 5th.
Must be looking forward to watching Ryan from the stands.

Surely doing enough to earn a spot on our bench - could have provided that something extra yesterday

We’ll get next to nothing on a tribunal. Hardly played for us !
