Ryan Stirk Signs

did anyone get this game? Virtual Soccer Academy Kicks off at Walsall Football Club | GamesIndustry.biz

Think I’ve still got it somewhere as my dad hoards old software. I remember getting to the end getting the trial with Walsall when I had young delusions I could make it as a footballer and it crashed. Remember thinking then I’d been scammed but it was probably best I never went on the trial as it would have been embarrassing given my lack of talent :joy:

I agree: I was expecting big things from Stirk, but he didn’t deliver. Our best midfield 3 were Comley, Earing and Hutch. I would like to see one more attacking midfielder added to the squad, as Earing’s injury record is not great.

Harsh, very harsh.

He faded in the latter half of the season, which was understandable, but I thought he was one of it not our best player in the first third of the season.

Well that never stopped an awful lot of players from picking a wage packet up over the past 5yrs…:joy:

I like Stirk as a player, but I was expecting more given his previous experience and showreel! I thought we had signed a solid League 1 striker player but I don’t think he’s at that level yet. Let’s hope he does the business this season.

We do have Jellis.

and Maher who I think could make a real breakthrough this season.

Neither Jellis nor Maher is the finished article. I’d like to see a quality addition in midfield. If depth nothing we can expect Jellis and Maher to do the business over the whole season.

Absolutely.

I think we are a good 4/5 peak level players away from having a good side.

We can’t rely on development players again.

Would like to see someone like Korey Smith now 33, just been released by Derby I believe but not sure we could afford his wages and will probably stay at league 1 level

I don’t rate Stirk at all to be honest but I don’t think he fits in all that much if he’s aside Comley. It should be on or the other and Comley is just a better player as the deeper man.

All our midfielders need to better near both boxes though. Spend half the match in no mans land usually.

Normally don’t have time to get forward before put don’t men have lost it and do t have time to get back before our goalkeeper has booted it!!

I don’t deny it’s mostly a tactical issue.

I don’t know the answer but there’s far too many last ditch challenges combined with no one getting up the pitch to support the attack. Earing solved this for a time because he’s very good at it. I think another experienced player might help in that aspect.

Also lack physicality in there which is ultimately why Mcentee played there.

If we set up in the first game of the season with McEntee as an 8 I’m going to scream.

Yow will spontaneously combust.

He really needs to be back in that back 3.

You won’t hear from again if that happens :joy:

Yep, he’s the perfect modern centre back and should be the long term captain in my view.

Agree. Whilst I get the reasoning he went midfield hes wasted. He’s a solid defender and good on the ball.

Always free on set pieces too. Reckon he could knock a few in next season. If fit.
