As a supporter I have seen much worse than this! We still have chance of going up and all those folk withholding money will do is ensure the club will be less competitive in the seasons to come. Ok that is their choice but then don’t come on here moaning we cannot afford a decent manager or decent players .
I think MS should go because a new voice would be good but that is for the Club to decide but his employment or not is not a determining factor for me.
That is not the point.
The point is to enforce change for us to be competitive.
But we’ve had our highest league positions for years!
I think folk need to be clear what it is they are protesting about. If it is the style that’s fair enough. But it is absurd to start a protest about our league position
I think the point is that you don’t necessarily withhold completely, but that you delay. By also telling them the reasons you’ve not yet renewed, it stops the club from finding other excuses for lower initial sales,such as people wanting to get Easter out of the way, or something equally implausible but convenient.
For me, the style is unacceptable. I don’t mind direct but this is something else.
We regularly have under 60% passing accuracy - basically one in two passes loses possession, we can go a whole game without having a pleasing passing sequence, we regularly (it happens more than it doesn’t) throw in an absolute stinker of a half - a whole half, it’s unbelievable.
There is a mix between result and style for me, the style can be fairly bad if we’re over 2 points per game and look like we’ll keep it up, it’s got to be relatively enjoyable to watch at 1.5 points per game but I don’t mind normal direct football, anything less and the results are too big of a problem to justify the style unless we look like we’re building something special like under Smith. Even then, it needs to be 1.3 points per game or more.
To me this is more start of potential protest against Trivela’s running of things rather than Sadler who let’s be honest will go eventually. It might be next week, April or June but it is coming if he finishes mid table.
People become disengaged if those at the very top aren’t showing the ambition required. It happened significantly under the last regime from Jan 2008 as we all know.
Now Trivela have done some good things but I think four years into their tenure people would like to see more backing for the key elements of the operation out on the pitch.
This to me means signing a decent CF on a three year deal. If there isn’t enough money in the entity to achieve this then there needs to be questions asked as to restrictions of the model.
Was a good take up last year and all that happened was Matt and Adomah signing on for another year. People can point to Pressley but he just looks a bog standard mid table league two striker so worrying if he was scouted for months and identified as the top target.
It all adds up. Lack of quality in final third means more 0-0s against Crawley and Accy coming up next season.
The matchday walk up prices have also rose significantly over the last five years so again the actual product on the pitch isn’t quite matching that raise. Certainly I’m not going to be paying 25 quid to watch Sadzball in a hurry.
Historically my position has always been on tbe side of supporting my club no matter what. Thinking that any boycotts or pulling my money from the club was just counter productive. I witnessed the Barnwell years and the early Hibbit years and they were truly awful and I still got my season tickets.
7 seasons in this league is taking it’s toll with all but 2 halves of the seasons being utter rubbish basically. The form since November has degenerated to as bad as I can remember in terms of entertainment value alone and now results are reflecting the performances, reaching a nadir in the Barnet game which I still can’t quite comprehend how awful that was.
I have season tickets with my boys. 18 and 14 years old. The eldest probably off to University in the autumn. I want to enjoy our love of Walsall as long as we can and it means so much to me as I had season tickets with my Dad since the very early 80s until his passing 17 years ago. However despite the deep emotional pull I just cannot justify the time and effort to attend every match under this current regime. Insufficient investment coupled with this terrible interpretation of football. I am not a football snob. I loved Buckley but appreciated Coakleys results more. Same can be said for Graydon and Money. What we are having to watch now in what is essentially the “entertainment industry “ just beggars belief.
It makes me incredibly sad to say I just can’t renew unless I see evidence of some change somewhere. I enjoyed my Walsall free Saturday yesterday whilst reflecting how last Saturday left me so down.
Agreed. We have been competitive. As for style I would love to see some better passing but I would rather be in the top competing than 16th playing prettier football.
I want to see more ambition from the club to get back to the lofty heights of the much derided Bonser era…y’know bottom half to mid table league one.
Club managed that on a miniscule budget from 2007-19 generally, maybe more luck than judgement but it happened.
Sign some decent strikers and that’s generally how most league two sides get promoted.
I don’t really think this Jan window was good enough and it didn’t really back Sadler in what he required either.
Side isn’t at the top though, it is 8th with two very hard games coming up.
Bromley are competing at the top playing direct football. Fair play to them as thought they’d really drop off but they are still digging out draws and wins and near impossible to beat at home.
Again in six weeks it has gone from 1st to 8th. That is not good and the performances at home have been abysmal. Last season it was supposed to be down to xG absurdity but that is not the case now and just had another mediocre transfer window on top.
It would be nice I agree. But is it something to demand?
I don’t wish to be accused of lacking ambition, but even last season Doncaster, Port Vale, Bradford and Wimbledon had bigger crowds than us.
Given where we are as a club, Trivela seem to be doing ok, of course it could be better, but protest seems way off the mark at this moment in time.
I understand complaints about the football too, I watch other football matches on tv to get my pretty football fix so I can live with the style.
I would like to see a better team .. Who wouldn’t but we have to play our part too….teams that get promotion need a good number of hard core fans. Despite being in a good position some of our fanbase appear to be giving up. That won’t help in my view.
No of course its not good. Some of the performances have been very poor especially at home and I am very disappointed but I am still someone who thinks we can turn it round.The next 2 games will tell us a lot.
I think people just want to see a bit more with this being the seventh year in this division now.
Clubs reach low points in their eras all the time but they tend to eventually snap out of it e.g. Villa, Sunderland, Coventry and others in last decade.
More comparable would be the likes of Chesterfield, Stockport, Orient who all dropped into non league and come out the other side stronger.
A year ago there was a feelgood factor which was reflected in the growing fanbase but I really fear it is going to be squandered and that will have a knock on effect for next generation of fanbase.
I said it last week but it is not healthy at all if long serving fans home and away like @DanG_WFC aren’t really bothered going week in week out anymore. Same for @el_nombre whether you agree with his views or not. These are the hardcore that W1 is stating above.
Seems the way Trivela is going about things has disengaged them.
This is sadly the only way to force change & get Trivela to wake up!
I like the idea, don’t renew via EB until last minute or don’t at all & tell the club why! The fans have backed the club, the manager & Trivela; they now need to listen.
To be clear I’m not a ST holder (location) but was for years! But I just want a team to believe in, football to enjoy in! We cannot take this lying down.
I’m the same I’ve hardly been this season tbh I just despise the Football.
I can’t commit to a season ticket and pay on the day with 2 sometimes 3 kids plus food drink and travel etc is an expensive day for me.
I can’t justify paying it at the moment to watch that sadly.
The Mrs noticed I was in a much better mood yesterday as well its making me miserable every weekend.
But nothing is certain in sport is it? Trivela cannot guarantee promotion .All they can do is give a chance of getting it.They have done that in my view.Anyway I am signing off now as it is clear that I am not going to agree with you and others who share your view. Respond to the early bird renewal with an email stating the reasons you’re unhappy and what you want to see addressed, (performances, style of play, the manager, lack of investment despite all prices going up and more fans attending).
If you’re a renewer, give your season ticket number so they can quantify just how many individuals are saying it and not just dismiss it as random fans that wouldn’t renew anyway.
Really ? With a strike force of Matt, Albert and elvis ? Come off it. Loans are a lucky dip. The players they signed and us not having our own goalkeeper season after season absolutely pathetic. Sadler style of football crap but the players he’s been given hadn’t helped either.
Have they though? I am sure I have read you post how you are disappointed we didn’t sign another striker in January.

I didn’t get a season ticket this season but have been to all but one home game and my wife and son went to that one in my absence. No doubt cost me a lot more even if I skip a few games.
The way I see it we do need fans who will turn up no matter what but if people aren’t happy with what they are paying to see, then the only thing they can do is stop paying into it. As a fan that is all you have really.
