Season Tickets 22/23

I was reading only yesterday on a Liverpool fan page I follow about how it was becoming increasingly painful to get away from Anfield. Maybe because of the extra people in the Main Stand. With the Anfield Road stand being extended it will probably get worse, so you may get back to arriving home at the same time at some point!

Fair play to you (and any others that distance travel to home games) I did it when I was younger. I lived in Blackpool for a year during the Big Fat Jan season and went to every game. I had the advantage I could kip at my old mans if I wanted but it never felt like a real struggle at the time. I guess things are different in your early 20s and I got the added benefit of seeing my Dad.

I consider myself to have been a die-hard fan all of my life, but I couldn’t and wouldn’t do it now. It is a struggle to motivate myself to get there from Cannock these days and it is a simple 20 minute train journey straight to the ground. I have to say that since coming back on UTS it has got worse. That is nothing against anyone on here or any of the views. I agree with so much of what is said, and I am as bad as the next man for having a good old moan, but all the issues are constantly highlighted and imprinted on my brain for easy access at any time (usually when it is time to get ready to go down the Banks’s) Our George’s newfound enthusiasm for it is just about keeping me going but it is hard work in a way it never has been before for me personally. Like all of us I hope for better but there doesn’t seem to be much light at the end of the tunnel right now.

I voted yes , but can fully understand why people won’t be renewing .it’s definitely more of a social thing for me now meet up with my eldest lad and his mates have a beer beforehand etc . It’s easy to see why people will not renew though .
It’s awful really , when the new management team were appointed I definitely didn’t think the football would be the issue , but I must say I’m far from convinced so far .
Is the style of play to pass it around the back then just play long into channel , that’s what it looks like to me , which may be ok if you have the right players , which brings the DOFs role into scrutiny .
Is it Fullerton’s style of play or Taylor’s or is this how they both want to play if so get the right .
players in .
We are supposed to be building a identity I hope this isn’t it .
I also hope the club are monitoring this board this thread should surely give them something to think about .

Interesting about these pages being demotivating. I think we’d both suspect that had the Internet existed 20 years earlier (a nanosecond in human development) then they’d have been similarly moaney about the facilities and some of the football during the 80’s and 90’s. Wheldon would have got pelters.

But the difference just now is how consistently and uniformly bad it has now been for such a sustained period. Whenever the Internet had been invented, this last couple of years would have seen an all time peak in moaning unfortunately.

I find it a bit cathartic. A bit “Walsall are rubbish……and now I’ve said that………….up the bloody saddlers”.

No option for ifollow season tickets for us exiles but I voted yes as I will definitely be buying one together with attending a few games as and when I’m in Plague Island. I still plan my day around the match and would really miss it now I can watch remotely, something I couldn’t do years ago when I lived overseas.

Don’t blame anyone for not doing so though, especially if time or money is tight.

Edit - I can watch for free on my IPTV box but I still buy the ST as I feel that I am at least making a financial contribution even if I am not there supporting the team in person.

My answer is yes because I am a supporter and live in hope that there will be an improvement. The"early birds" are also really cheap…works out at about £11-£12 per game. As I hardly miss a home game and I have the cash then it is a no brainer from a financial point of view.

One thing about these pages is that there is more mutual respect for individual choices than there was about ten years ago. I remember being told on here that I was “part of the problem” for buying a season ticket. As W1 suggests, supporters should never knock other supporters for “supporting”. Equally, if people have had enough, don’t enjoy it etc then not attending us fine too. It’s a choice. As an ostensibly set of blokes the idea of “giving up” on something can be seen as weak so in the past people have tried to argue non attendance as some kind of noble sacrifice. It’s not - it’s just a choice and a perfectly logical one at that.

What frustrates me though PT is it’s an easy fix for most of us. I support Walsall I really don’t expect to much success, but what I do expect is the club to give it their best possible go.

Unfortunately even the most hardcore of fans can now see through the regime, I fear for the club next season I genuinely do.

I’ve had my season ticket for 15-20 years and renew regardless every year, not mainly for anything football related but more the social side of seeing mates and those around me where I sit.

Seriously considering not renewing though. While the football hasn’t been the main driver for me it is obviously a factor and I can’t ever remember having less optimism about Walsall FC than I do now.

At board level it is screaming out for new blood but it’s a closed shop, a job for life, old boys club, to the point they even appoint a SLO who is also in that clique. That for me is almost as frustrating as the ineptitude in the transfer market - we need new players yes but we also need new ideas at the top.

Saying all that I’ll probably end up renewing but I can’t actually remember when I was excited for the actual football (other than the odd game here or there).

It’s boring being a Walsall fan.

I voted ‘No’ as right now I feel completely demotivated. The standard of football is seldom acceptable from either an entertainment or outcomes perspective. Most of my chums have long since stopped attending, though I enjoy my pregame chats with Walsall1. On top of all this I feel very uncomfortable in crowds, I guess as a consequence of the Vid risk and my age.

Much like PT I live 100 miles from the ground, and I also work alternate weekends, so I’ve bought a season ticket these past 2 seasons more to give the club I love some revenue, as my way of doing what I can, rather than because I’ll be there each week.

However, I now feel that we’re being taken for a ride as much as we under Jeff, and that the ownership is not deserving of my money.

I would hope someone at the Club is taking notice of this thread (hello Dan) and can see the disaffection many feel, and hopefully will actually bloody well do something to turn the situation round and make us feel better about WFC. All the enthusiasm from the summer of 2019, all the goodwill from March and April of 2020 - how the heck have they squandered that so quickly and so effectively?

The very most recent home game was great entertainment.

I’ll be getting a season ticket next year.

Agree, that I’ve too not lost interest in the club as a whole…but it does feel sometimes that the club have lost interest in the fans.

Just sometimes?

Yes but only one rather than two.

The last home game being entertaining is an interesting one. Yes it was, but personally I don’t want to constantly be trying to get back into the game. I wouldn’t want to watch a season of matches where we are so glad/relieved that we have got a point. I want to see us totally outplay other teams, even if we only win 1-0. I want us to thrash teams sometimes. I get fed up of seeing/hearing the opposition singing at us because we are losing again. I realise we won’t win every game but I think it’s the culmination of the last few years home results that have worn me down.

Yes cos I’m sure they’ll be very interested in us again in March/April time…

Can’t wait for the , your club , stronger together, stronger in numbers, billionaires ready to invest … :poop:

Genuinely can’t wait to see what they roll out.

They can go and piss off, expect us poor plebs to keep forking out money when they wont put their hands in their own pockets.

We are the footballing version of a socialist left wing party.
