Second Boycott letter

You applied more pressure and made more negative statements than I did last season about Flynn and his players! In fact, I never had a pop at any player - unlike you.

Is that really your brand of ’ positive support’ and being a ‘positive football fan’!!!

May I suggest you set your expectations based on evidence rather than blind optimism and then when we are nowhere near the top half you might feel a little less short changed and a little less likely to be hounding players and managers operating within the crippling constraints of Walsall FC in future.

The football under Flynn was awful plus we was losing week in week out enough to push the happiest of clappers over the edge.

Yes. It absolutely would.

You just need to hope that another year of evolution rather than revolution doesn’t mean we run out of League status road.

I’m sure you’ve been on here moaning over the past few seasons.

What a disappointing letter, literally nothing in it of any substance. Plus a pitiful defence of his decision to appoint Sadler, which he didn’t need to do.

So many simple things he could have presented in this letter;….

• Re-name Bonser Suite
• Share the vision for the Saddlers Club
• Announce the new kit or alude to it, plus new merch partner etc……
• Replace the SLO
• announce the backroom team
• if he is not prepared to change the board, then at least strengthen it
• publish the dates for the fans forums for next 12 months
• offer early bird again for 2 weeks
• announce an open day, so fans can you tour the stadium, meet players, board, watch a legends match or pre-season friendly for free etc….

Literally no change or nothing new. Very disillusioned.

Sadler clearly the cheap option & his defence of his decision, just reinforces this view. Just back your decision Ben, you don’t need to explain until it’s clear it didn’t work (which I genuinely hope isn’t the case).

Massive 2/3 months ahead for Walsall FC, as by the time the Saddlers club is open we could be non league.

I’ve just gone through the supposed ‘7 items’ that Sadler excelled in during the interview process. Utter Billy bullshit that he was the best candidate.

I cannot believe we have chosen him. It’s absolutely crazy.

Definetely heading for the conference after reading that load of crap.

I wouldn’t go that far - I just don’t see any signs of progress.

I keep typing this - but I really hope I’m wrong, and they come up with something different this summer.

Fans - we are fed up of hoof ball and negative football.
BB - We needed the candidate who desires to play the type of front-foot football we want to play,
Fans - Not good enough,

Fans - we need Saddlers club open
BB - We look forward to opening the new and improved Saddlers Club during this next season
Fans - not good enough, no details, we will be ripped off with prices

Fans - the match day experience needs improving. We need fan zones etc
BB - * New Fanzones. We want this to be a family club and want to provide more and better experiences for our young fans and their families.
Fans - not good enough. We’re not bothered about that, only what happens on pitch.

Fans - we need to own freehold
BB - * Positive Foundation - Bescot Freehold. After decades of tenancy, we are proud that the club is the owner of the Poundland Bescot Stadium and surrounding property. This was a major milestone in the club’s history.
Fans - not good enough. Trivela want freehold to sell off the land and make a profit

Fans - SLO no good, need someone else
BB- we are substantially revamping the Supporter Liaison Office. Graham Whittaker will remain the Walsall FC SLO locally, and Wesley Hill, VP of Operations and Strategic Partnerships at Trivela Group, will work in conjunction with Graham to manage all facets of supporter communication and engagement going forward.
Fans - not good enough.

Fans - Pomlett still making decisions with BB stuck in America.
BB - I plan to begin to lead from the front more and more over time.
Fans - not good enough.

This is how things on this message board come across to me. If I was BB I would feel like giving up. He addresses issues fans moan about but still it is not good enough. Give the bloke a chance, he has been here a year, he is still evaluating things. If after a fair time things are no better or worse then fair enough.

I don’t think anyone is questioning the ideas themselves - it’s what isn’t on that list that’s worrying.

Well I have read these moans on here.

Reading the letter, branch Davidian came to mind :joy:
I don’t think they get the concept that all fans want is a reasonable football team, with reasonable abilities that are quite exciting to watch, with reasonable food and drink, that makes you feel that you have had value for money, it A rocket science

More emphasis on youth after selecting Sadler given he says some will be joining up with the first team squad.

Beyond Foulkes coming back from his two seasons out on loan and being an option on the right and Maher I’m not really sure who else is ready to make an impact in league 2 as surely they should be out on loan instead if they’re deemed not quite ready rather than just making up the numbers on the bench.

None of them will be making an impact on league two, including Maher. But if there’s substantial investment in 3/4 major signings of value then those players will need to subsidize the bench, because there’s no way we’ll be working with a squad of 20/22 experienced pros.

I find it bizarre that it’s now June and we have no backroom team.

I’d have thought part of this ‘aggressive’ summer would be to be talking to agents, players and staff - planning pre-season to the minute of detail - all to get ahead of the curve.

Does have any background as a fitness coach? Who is advising him on that and the training regimen?

I hope we make some appointments soon because it seems so terribly late on everything.

Absolute joke for Sadler to be on the sunbed in Majorca with no staff appointed. You literally couldn’t make it up. Only the ultimate happy clappers and cyber bullies Saddlerone and Shrewsbury Saddler could possibly defend this farce. Which I’m sure they will. Duh. Troll statement incoming

The fact that BB used at least a quarter of his second letter defending his decision to appoint Sadler says a lot to me. He may have potential but not the best candidate right here right now. He made the decision, he shouldn’t need to explain in such detail, just own it now.

This sentence backs up the fact Sadler is more about potential in my opinion " And I believe that especially with an experienced support staff around him, he can grow with us and be a very capable Head Coach for us"

I look forward to seeing who we get in to help Mat Sadler, and I genuinely hope that BB doesn’t have to sack Sadler 4 or 5 months in. It’s happened now and I will be right behind him and I’d be very happy if Mat makes me eat my words. Right now those are my opinions.

There is a backroom team. All that is missing is an assistant and a coach….…joking apart I agree that’s no ideal.

But the players are on holiday for an another 4 weeks so I don’t see it as a real problem. I’ll grant you that in an ideal world it wouldn’t be the case but I actually don’t think it’s a problem.

Sadler will have the pre season planned weeks ago. Someone else will handle the logistics of which friendlies we play and where…the dates will be all it sorted and the training programmes will be arranged around that on the advice of the medical and science team that are already in place.

But you just assume that we aren’t!!

I don’t understand it. If we accept it’s not going to be broadcast to the world, why can’t we assume all this is taking place?

When was the last time anyone at any club on the entire planet, told its supporters which players and which agents they were discussing potential deals with?

I understand it’s frustrating when it’s radio silence but that’s because we live in a world where we suddenly expect to be in the loop with everything, but It’s just not realistic. It’s not happening in any other industry but as fans we have this attachment that makes us feel it’s our right.

Trust me, the phones will be off the hook with agents ringing us. There will be a host of phone calls and meetings among people at the club discussing names and potential signings.

We can’t be so naive as to believe the numerous Twitter accounts claiming to be in the know and talking about various clubs being in for various players……this is generally unscrupulous agents generating their own news to generate interest. Unfortunately nothing on football generates interest more than other interest!!!

The sports science and physio / medical team are all in place. There wasn’t a problem with that department and it doesn’t need tinkering with. Flynn and the various players involved in rehab all paid tribute to the medical department on many occasions despite fans just assuming an ACL from landing badly after mis-hitting a shot was down to the staff!!!

Mate I’ve said it before, you’re a poster I respect. Even if I don’t agree with you at least it can be a sensible logical discussion and more often than not your posts are thoughtful and contain common sense. Don’t get caught up in all the other rubbish. There are things that could be better of course but we’re almost at the point where we are under every cushion looking for an issue that isn’t there.
