Read the letter. He isn’t making any bold predictions or any outrageous promises or setting overly optimistic expectations as could be said of Pomlett. . One brick at a time is the clear message. . You may not like it, but it’s there in black and white.
Nice letter. Let’s do the talking on the pitch. Cheers.
Excellent post Cats.
Whilst im not particularly enthused with whats happened over the last decade i will wait to see how Mat deals with bringing in new faces and watch the first few games prior to screaming “We’m Doomed”.
No point in relegating ourselves to the National League without kicking a ball.
Feel sorry for the fans and feel sorry for the Trivela investors. Clearly the driver has fell asleep at the wheel
I’m going to enjoy our last season in league football for a while.
Minimum for me this season is play offs. I hate the way that every season we seem to be slowly suckered in to lowering our expectations. We want promotion, then playoffs, then top 10, then better than last season. What is next? merely staying up? Surely we are better then this.
UP THE SADDLERS
Love to reward failure at this club over the past how many years.
About time we did something but my god I’m not feeling confident. Would love to be proved wrong
Anyone else think that Letter 1 was released in the knowledge that Sadler was going to get/already had the job, and they knew Letter 2 was always going to be a justification for that?
I’m so confused by this board, my heart says they mean the right things and could come good, but my head says there’s too many red flags to be anything less than circumspect.
I didn’t say he had, it was in response to your comment about it being harder to succeed in a league where others are bankrolled. So what do we do, sit by and bleat about how we are a sustainable Club turning a small profit every year as we get left behind, or join the race. Trivela has access to investors so it would be logical to seek the investment from them wouldn’t it if that is how we find success?
Totally agree.
We really don’t know. They haven’t said that they are going to bank roll us, in fact they have said they aren’t. They say that they are going to build a sustainable L1 club, one brick at a time, that can have a push at The Championship, now and again, but that it will take time. So I suppose the sort of club that we have mostly always been. However, even to do that takes a lot more money than a bog handle salesman would have in today’s world.
I’m hoping that they underpromise and overdeliver, rather than vice versa.
Without blowing my own trumpet (oo errr), I aint been wrong often over the last decade.
Trivela could be about to launch into pre season with an open cheque book and blow us all away, but right now, reading between the lines, I am very, very worried about Walsall.
I may look like a right sausage come August, but I really can’t see it. Oh to be pleasantly surprised by this club for once…
Agree. I reckon the next 12 months will be one of the most important 12 months in our history, one way or another, and that’s not hyperbole.
I’m not in disagreement with that as your assumption is right in that those clubs which are being bankrolled make that ambition of Trivela’s more difficult to achieve. I guess the concern is that strategy could see us going further backwards and we haven’t got much wriggle room to play with in that respect.
What I struggle with is after years of being a known as well run club . And investors coming into the club buying the the freehold which is great but so little going on at the club in the way of improvement and investment in the team .
I’m really 50/50 on boycottt and his teams intentions at the moment as I think a lot of the supporters are.
I really hope I’m wrong but like most are just frustrated and they need to show what they are all about in the pre season.
Not writing them off but becoming more worried.
Worst attempt at a troll job I’ve ever seen, and there’s a few knocking around.
And mindless clapping at the same bollocks every summer is how it comes across to me.
The bullshit that comes out of the club and is spouted by the fans every summer.
Boycott isn’t spouting it though. I’ll give you that Pomlett was. As football fans, most of us want to be optimistic, even though the reality rarely delivers (and not just us)
But he was saying the same last summer. Yet there was no progress. Maybe there will be this year, but I’m past the point of listening to another chairman, spout the same shite about progress and systems, parroted by the same fans, that will be moaning come February, saying all the same things they are scoffing at now.
Believe it when I see it. That statement did nothing to change my mind and neither did the first.
