Shirt for next season

Same here, makes me think that the Walsall team in 1874 must have been in their 60’s

They could wear the same kit in the summer to play cricket.

I’m with Cats all the way on this. Red, White & Green. Couldn’t care less who manufactures the kit as I stopped playing football many years ago…

It says in the blurb unferneath that they did - it was the Walsall/Walsall Town gentlemen’s team formed by members of the cricket club.

86/87 for me

Me too. The green makes us pretty unique in amongst a sea of other red and white strips.

I’d lose it from the shirt though. I’d go for as near plain red shirts as possible, as near plain white shorts as possible and as near plain green socks as possible. This season’s home shirt was all a bit busy for me.

Not that I’ve brought or worn a replica kit for myself since about 1987. I was given one, a blue effort signed by Merson that came with the season ticket one year - unworn, still in the cellophane up in the loft.

I really hope we go for Luke - do the club not realise they will generate way more revenue by selling kits from a (relatively) local company than some foreign brand

The Nike kits of the mid 2000s (the 2006-7 my fave) were great - quality and also a nice plain top with a collar. Simples really. Maybe keep a bit of green trim on the shorts or socks maybe if that is desired somewhere.

Like others have said, the green reminds me of when I started. Is the sole reason I have brought both home and away shirts for past couple of years.

Few things that I think need to be considered in a shirt in order of importance

  1. decent quality (not tea towel easy fit the players hated, or early 90s signs specialist logo falling off
  2. profit per shirt to the club.
  3. Sellable to the fans and fringe fans. I’d hazard a guess the Nike kits sold better than any others we’ve had.

Colours not that importance it’ll be a mix of red white green black in varying amount

Would love to know how the cost per shirt varies in Nike to errea set off against how many we’d sell extra

It’s not just the colours though is it - are we wanting 1 colour plain, mainly plain with details, halves, quarters, stripes, hoops, chequered, Crystal Palace style Thunderbird sash, … ? And that’s just tops - what about shorts and socks? Or maybe go for a onesie? :joy:

The problem with Nike as a supplier is that we are way down the pecking order when it comes to customer service.
“just started the production of your shirts when we had a call from Arsenal. They wanted more so we had tro stop yours.”

The material of the Errea kits is awful, it’s like playing in a binbag. So thick, so hot, no breathability and pulls just looking at it. The stitching quality of the crest is appalling too really, and the cost for such a low quality shirt is mad.

No thanks, Errea

Don’t we all think the “correct” kit is the one we had when we were kids? Plain red and white for me, preferably with the white shirts. We can have green grass.

Were we playing cricket in 1874?

I very much doubt we dealt directly with Nike.

They were basic Nike parks kits. More likely we bought from a 3rd party company who just added our badge and sponsor to the basic kits.

Me too, always thought it should be red shirts white shorts, but watching us play in that kit gives us an individuality, as someone else mentioned amongst a sea of red and white mediocrity throughout the four divisions.
The current home kit is scheissen, far too much green, green trim on shirt and socks is ok but our current kit looks like we bought the strip from Woolworths!

Keep the green on home shirt but not as much as we have now.
