Shirt for next season

Bring back the collar. I don’t mind a bit of green personally.

Can’t say any of our recent shirts have appealed. The last one I liked and brought was the mint green 3rd shirt.

I started getting into us properly in the red and black days, so have fond memories of that combo.

I’d argue black is more a Walsall colour than green but tbf I’d stick with a red and white combo as it just seems more Walsall.

Last home shirt I brought was the 19/20 one for my lad. Have wanted to get him a new one since but couldn’t bring myself to pay money for the last two.

Red and white are the Walsall colours.
I’m in favour of the added green but it needs to be an accent colour rather than stuck all over the shirts, shorts and socks.

As the club clearly reads on here they should be looking at a newer version of this:

Nice and simple. No stripes, halves, quarters, polka dots, checks or other bollocks.

Just red shirts, white shorts and green socks.

I’d then have an all yellow kit with blue trim for away to go with the yellow ribbon song.

And a 3rd kit of white shirts, red shorts, black socks to reflect the Black Country colours.

Looking at old strips, claret and blue looks more to be our colours than green :face_vomiting:

I liked the black too. We also had a little blue in the, ‘90 Minutes from Europe’, season but red and white for me.

Apart from one season, green has been synonymous with struggle.

Yeah, any other colours just seem a bit of a forced attempt to find an ‘identity’ that’s not really ours.

I liked the Adidas strips - also the Admiral one with the blue shorts.

What a cracking shirt. Well before my time, but as ISSA have shown, retro shirts are a big deal at the moment.

I was given the red home shirt, also signed by Merson, with my season ticket that year. Like yours mine was placed in a drawer & forgotten about until I had a clear out during lockdown!

I liked our Nike kit in the season we finished as champions in this league under Dickie Dosh.

I’d be happy to have red tops, white shorts and green socks. As long as we keep green in somewhere I don’t mind.

That is my favourite strip, from the year I first went to Fellows Park.

Red top, no fussy design, white collar, bit of white and green trim on sleeve/cuff. White shorts. Green socks, white trim. Oh and “Saddlers” lettering on reverse.

I too like a bit of green but we did it better, i.e. more subtly last season than this.

Away kit, white top, red shorts and alternate choice for when we play a team in red, a deep purple kit a la Fiorentina or Northampton.

Final thing - goalkeeper jersey in traditional goalkeeping green - kind of British Racing Green, and please no dots!

The kits are always cheap for me and lack any quality. We’re probably lucky that Primark don’t make kits or we’d be wearing one.

Do Poundland make football kits?

Would be nice to see our club go out of their way to procure a UK based clothing manufacturer.

Does anyone, (over 65) remember us wearing a claret and blue combination as a second or third kit in the early to mid 1960’s? I have heard this but don’t remember seeing it myself. It doesn’t seem improbable as we wore claret and blue in the 1930’s and just after the second world war.

Before my time but I believe it was worn at Stoke in the famous win there. From pictures it looks identical to the West Ham kit of that era.

Thanks, just found a programme for sale on eBay which gives Walsall’s colours as claret and blue shirts. Before my time as well, white shirts and red shorts when I started going.
