Absolutely agree with you, Weir played really well and will hopefully get more opportunities in the future.
That he isn’t currently doing so shows just what a great squad we have.
Nearly forgot - I was looking to see if I could connect to a WiFi network in the OAP stand last night. Was sat behind the dugouts and one popped up that I assume was their coaching staff’s … piston-shrewsbury. We certainly did!
Week commencing 9 December.
Villa the only U21 through to knock out stages … and from the Northern section
Call me disorientated, but I was sure AVFC was further south than WFC (as I wondered down the middle of the Aston Expressway)
William Wordsworth, if I’m not mistaken…
Final game currently being played. Anyone know when the draw will be?
22nd November.
Cheers. Details are on the OS now - draw to take place on Sky Sports News before the Plymouth v Watford game on Friday evening. We’re ball 1 in the Southern section - will be at home w/c 9th December (so probably Tuesday 10th) to one of Colchester, Burton, Exeter, Cheltenham, Wimbledon, Cambridge or Stevenage.
I caught the date on some article about Blues that popped up on my facebook (I’m not a closet Blue nose honest)
I had it in my mind it was December the 9th but that is when the games are due to be played I believe.
Colchester, Burton, Exeter and Cheltenham won their groups, so it won’t be one of those. I am confused by the Draw A and Draw B sections though. It means we can only get Orient, Northampton, Swindon or Reading I think.
You are correct - it was the A and B draws thing that confused me (thought it was just 2 pots of home and away teams, why have they made it more complicated?)
I think it’s to simplify the draw - the winners aren’t allowed to be drawn against the runners-up from their own group, this way there’s no chance of that happening. You’ve got the winners of groups A to D against the runners up from groups E to H and vice versa.
Another but different league 1 club would be good, we’re trying to complete the set😁
It must be a really crappy competition for sponsors to pull out halfway through. Scrap the damn thing, nobody would miss it.
Since we got to the final in 2015 it’s been the Johnstones Paint Trophy (2015-16), the Checkatrade Trophy (2016-19), the Leasing dot com Trophy (2019-20), the Papa Johns Trophy (2019-23), the Bristol Street Motors Trophy (2023-24) and now, midway through the competition, the Vertue Trophy. Six different names in nine years.
Is it any wonder that supporters don’t flock to this competition?
That was my assumption too, but it’s a re-branding of Bristol Street Motors by their ownership group. So same sponsors, different name.
Posters most obsessed with this competition are the one’s who see it as irrelevant.
Bit weird.
Personally, looking forward to next round. Love midweek games and the chance to see how players not usually in the first team are developing.
The sponsors haven’t pulled out Vertu motors owns Bristol Street Motors
Thanks for pointing this out.
Does this mean you are a Vertu Signaller?
