Silkeborg

Exciting times !
Only issue is we are now the 2nd biggest team and Denmark will be the main focus
Will they loan us players I presume if work permits allow ?

Wasn’t expecting this news.

I can imagine this factor would have played a big part in Trivela’s thinking: ranked 5th most financially sustainable club in Europe according to this:

Bit of a club/stadium guide video here. Looks a nice little stadium. 7 years old and costs £15M, with almost half stumped up by their local council.

It isn’t a big surprise that Trivela have purchased another club as they stated this was their intention when they bought us. I suppose I am surprised by how quickly they are implementing their plan to build up a portfolio of football clubs. All three clubs purchased so far are modest with a bit of potential to do better than where they are. Silkeborg have a tidy stadium, no stanchions and I’m sure I spotted some tasty chips in that video

Pretty clear which club has more potential.

I have absolutely no idea what this means for us as a club!

Is it good or bad? No idea.

Am I right in thinking they have bought an African side as well ……… or did I imagine that ?

Silkeborg is a well driven club, winning the danish Cup last season and barely missing out on the group stages losing on last minute goals to both Molde and Gent. We even brought youth players from our own ranks all the way to the National Team, with Dolberg leading the line against Serbia yesterday for example.

Looking forward to learning more about Walsall, already been looking at flight connections to go and watch a game in the new year!

More like started up, than bought.

I was struggling to think of any previous Danish connection.
Then I remembered Jan Sorenson and (with less affection) Mads Timm.

Any more?

We had a link up with Koge Boldklub for a short while in the mid 00s, as it was owned by a mate of Jeffs.

Who can forget Justin Shaibu?

I’d forgotten

This is what Justin thinks about himself

“I like to think I play like Romelu Lukaku," said Justin. “I have got great pace, a lot of energy, a lot of power, and I am a great finisher.”

Justin scored zero goals in 14 appearances for Walsall

The River Tame at Bescot outfalls into the North Sea, so Danish fans can still use their preferred method of transport…

I think this is good news?

Looks like they’re a similar sized club to Walsall with similar gates though? - I wonder if that means we’ll start to see our best players head over to Denmark? - I doubt it - but that’s the only drawback I can see with this.

Interesting article. Thank you.

Our record on the development of young players in the last few years has been poor, to say the least.
Good to see that Trivela have identified the issue and are looking to learn from Silkeborg.

As @TheRedPrince said above, Brexit will prevent the easy movement of players between us and them, but obviously not a problem for the Drogs in both cases.

Interesting development though.
