On Thursday he’ll say Dutton the director of football and sadler now the new manager :joy:

Ha ha

Nah, the DoF will be some bloke from down the pub, knows FA about football but he will be cheap and interviewed well!
Never been so nervous since the sixties, when I was a teenager, and Walsall F.C. was my life! These two matches will probably decide our EFL future, but as many have mentioned, our lot are so devoid of confidence and fearful of their usual ā€˜slip up’ that the apparently ā€˜completely useless’ Southend will see this as an advantage and go for it.
As we always gift the opposition a goal and cannot score I see this as a heart stopping 1-0 defeat.

Like others have said , please let’s have some threat tonight - find a way of getting Wes in the team because we look totally blunt otherwise .

A six-pointer if ever there was one. This game may define our season, we simply have to get something from it.
We’re on a sixteen game winless streak (remember those, Deano?) and it’s time we turned that around.
I’m going to turn the wheel of optimism and (fingers crossed) predict a win tonight.
I would drop either Lavery or Gordon and put Osei-Yaw up front and get Vincent as the 10 role just behind the strikers.
I would say to the players; please, please, please no individual errors!

I don’t know why we dont chuck him up front every now and then, nothing to lose, especially with our inept forwards.

Just realised Barrow play Grimsby tonight. Surely if ourselves and Barrow win the bottom 2 are just about gone.

My worry tonight is that we go out and set up not to lose. If Southend have got any sense then they will just come out and hit us from the start. With a completely defensive set up and mindset then if we do concede first I just think that it will be too difficult for us to pull this one back as well. Let’s face it, scoring goals lately has not been something that we are particularly good at.

This could be a game too early for Holden to make a come back. But to expect him to walk back into the side and make an instant impact is too much to ask after such a long lay off. With Tyreik away on international duty I do wonder where that bit of extra attacking quality will come from. After watching the last few matches we seem to be relying on a Norman long throw into the box as our best way of creating chances.

I think lavery gets some unfair criticism I do. Yes he’s a terrible footballer but give him opportunities in the box and he’ll score. He needs people to put the ball in there. Gary lineker type player. No point hoofing balls at him and expecting him to run himself into the ground. Give the kid the service he needs

Btw I didn’t mean to tag and reply to ur comment I thought that was a normal reply :joy:

Christ!
This is going to be a difficult watch isn’t it…
I’d avoid this one like the plague - but I’ve already paid for it so…

Me too! BUT, as the song goes…

♫ Well this could be the last time
This could be the last time
Maybe the last time
I don’t know, oh no, oh no ♫

You can’t always get what you want but let’s hope we get some satisfaction tonight or everyone will be painting it black at the final whistle.

Haha

Tbf Steve bull wasn’t a good footballer and Andy rammel wasn’t imo but they knew where the net was

Anyway let’s get back to tonight’s game. I’ve just caved in and spent my Ā£10 an hour before the line ups are announced. Come on Brian give an attacking formation and line up and let’s hammer these tonight. Surely with his managerial career on the line and our players out at the back he’ll be forced into it .

I’m contractually obliged tonight as I bought the pass first time round the day this fixture was postponed, even then I didn’t imagine that this would be such a huge game.Been thinking about it most the day as if it was a playoff semi final first leg or something unfortunately it’s the opposite. Please lads turn up tonight and give us 110% we need to see grit and determination we need to see creativity and spark, I beg you do don’t lose this game I don’t think I could take it being involved in a final day scrap for our footballing league lives.

Against my better judgement I am going to watch the game, despite the TERRIBLE defeat that this poor side inflicted on us in one of the worst games I ever seen Walsall play in.

I am very nervous and if we lose this then I will be gutted - but the fact that I expect us to lose it speaks volumes. We need a performance like the one against Tranmere away.
