Just like to say what a great job you are doing @RobHarv3y filling in for Welsh with these match previews. Big shoes to fill. Have you heard off Welsh hopes he’s doing well.
I am not worried? as a club we will reap what we have sowed
I haven’t, I did text him previously and told him to contact me if there was anything I could do for him. @simon may have spoken to him?
Yep the first one
Feels huge this. First time in a while I’ve got a few big match butterflies. During Covid games have been something to provide a bit of structure and focus rather than something to get hugely hot under the collar about.
But this feels big. To be fair, it is probably bigger for them than us. They will feel it is must win whereas a draw probably suits us. That late concession of an equaliser against ten men will have been a blow for them on Saturday.
I’d have gone Wright and McDonald tonight but with no Wright it either leaves us unbalanced or we need a Lazarus re-emergence of either Nolan or Holden, the latter of which is much prefer to see in the Osadebe role. No White and Scarr probably necessitates a flat back four.
A nervy 1-1. Osadebe (pen) for us.
I’ve just noticed I’m on this match for the prediction league from the original schedule in February. Me and one or two others have 2-1 to Walsall. If they are going to win that may well have to be the score, because they’ll be gifting their usual late goal. If it’s 2-0 after 80 minutes, some of us will be doubly happy.
Yep I’m exactly the same.
Woke up this morning and first thought was the game tonight. Got a real red letter feel about the whole thing. For the club generally, and certainly Dutton and Pomlett.
Yes, it is an important game. League 2 is a poor league and every team can beat any other. Looking at the scores, wins of more than 2 goals are rare - fewer than 1 a week on average, and that is not true of the other leagues. Against the teams lower in the league, we never seem to show any confidence and draw or lose 1-0. That is my concern for tonight - that we play with fear and no confidence.
Nervous! First thing i thought about today.
Just pray for a quick couple of goals which settles us down. LOL just laughed after i wrote that.
We all know its going to be 0-0 till the 75th minute, we get a pen, scored. 0-1. Dutz goes defensive, we conceed 90+2. 1-1. Nail Bitter!
If we lose this, we deserve to go down.
Sounds a classic, but I’ll be spending my £10 again.
Maybe this is really winnable, god we need it
Come on Walsall!!
In addition to Rickets and Hurst mentioned by Rob above, I reckon these have played for both as well:
Ron Pountney, Tommy Mooney, Neil Tolson, Jason Demetriou, Lee Bradbury, Dave Martin, Jabo Ibhere, Andy Petterson, Franck Moussa, Brett Angell, Mark Prudhoe, Scott Houghton, Jamie Forrester, Julian Bennett, Liam Dickinson, Andy Rammell, Roy McDonough, Caolan Lavery, Keven Betsy, Paul Smith, Sam Mantom, Sofiene Zaaboub, Marc Laird, Carl Emberson, Michael Husbands and Neil Freeman.
Haven’t felt this anxious before a game since Preston (h) in the JPT semi finals. Not even the Barnsley play offs.
Very different reasons.
There is no way im watching this sober.
I’m putting my boycott on hold for this one
We need a win and we need it badly
I’m just sick to the pit of my stomach that in the next two games - as significant as any in my 30 plus years of following the club … we are being led by the poorest manager I’ve known us have, with a directionless chairman and a gutless heartless group of players
I’m at work but also considering putting my boycott on hold and paying and watching it on my phone. I will await for the line up first tho. Straight away we will know if it’s a draw/loss or we stand a slight chance of a win from the line up
Although he has been a massive let down this season I think we have to play Wes tonight just to give us some kind of outlet and pace and give Southend something to think about .
Glad this is an away match so I don’t feel obliged to watch.
This is the worst group of players we’ve had in my time as a supporter. I just wish they would play with more confidence.
FTFY.
