Stewart Mairs appointed Head of Football

Seems like a good appointment, we need someone to sort the football side of things. I don’t think Trivela have any malicious intent for us, they have just been extremely naive. Hope it works out

What does overseeing the Mens first team mean?

Modern football is so wank

You never know, with someone telling him how to play, he might do ok.

Purposely vague :joy:

I always thought our recruitment manager was the same as head scout?

Hasn’t gone down very well online this one.

I’m willing to give the bloke a chance though but I don’t expect much regarding a new manager now.

And Matt Jordan is STILL on the ‘executive team’

WHY?

What on earth is he doing?

Stop it. Please.

That’s usually the managers job is in not.

It sounds to me that the Head of Football role is basically a local version of Matt Jordan.

The manager, recruitment head and academy head all report to this guy. Then he reports to Jordan.

Wouldn’t be surprised if Drogheda and Silkeborg get equivalent local positions.

I’d like to see his role clearly defined. Like actual details of what he is responsible and accountable for.

Good luck to the chap anyway, he’s here now.

Well yes.

I would love to win the euro millions, buy Walsall and sack EVERYONE

It’ll be a young coach as they’ll put it no one with any experience or achievements will work in this system.

Only Walsall FC could appoint a head of football with no football league experience.

Who goes first?

And as far as I know, no one can really say for sure exactly what Matt Jordan’s role is or what he is responsible for. Feels like a mess to me, but can only hope it works out.

The Fylde article was shared on here a few days ago when this guy was rumoured to be the HoF.

Must admit as I was reading our announcement I was thinking our comms team have copied and pasted half of it. :joy:

He will provide strategic leadership across the club’s football structure as we continue to develop and evolve.

With all the ‘strategic leadership’ we have in the club we should be absolutely bloody flying - instead we are failing consistently… cant say I’m overly excited about this but let’s hope Trivela has got this one right and we can start moving things forward positively…..

Zero EFL experience “leading day to day football operations overseeing the men’s first team”

Not a fan of us spending another wage on another member of staff and it’s not particularly inspiring with his experience. For me Fylde and the US women’s team is not up to standard.

I’ll look forward to being proved wrong.
