Summer Transfer Rumours / Confirmed 2023

Obviously I’m not, and my tongue in cheek reply is not ‘aimed’ at you (to use your gun pointing analogy!) as there are a number of people who seem to be going on and on about something that doesn’t really need to and is taking the thread off topic. I was just breaking it up with a bit of humour!

Anyway, whilst on the thread, how do you see the new signings? Will Griffith play alongside Stirk in your opinion?

What’s wrong with Bolt Thrower?

Luke Armstrong to Wrexham is off paperwork not done in time they were paying 500k as well.

Looks like more than 1 person going on and on about their same point tbh but never mind.
As for the original point, my take on it is that everyone is entitled to their opinion as fans but whether we can say we know more than someone who is and has worked in that industry for years and got some qualifications in it another thing. One of the many quirks of football I guess!

Wow, Hollywood FC really going for it by the looks of it. What a shame their fax machine broke down!!

I think, as with previous underwhelming summers, it’s a mixed bag of good (DJ, Farq based on seeing him play for other clubs etc), meh (Stirk, Williams based on potential etc), underwhelming (Hussey etc) to WTF? (DJT etc)

I’d be amazed if he gets game time outside the paint pot to begin with but if he impresses then I’d hope he’s competition for Stirk rather than a companion. We lack physicality in the middle which is why we have shoe horned an ill fitting centre half in there, and Sadler suggested that’s the plan going forward. I’d be amazed if a 19 year old is the companion for Stirk who is diminutive.

I’d guess Comley is the cover for McEntee and this lad is the cover for Stirk.

Show me the bit where anyone claimed they have more know how and I’ll agree. Being critical of something and having the know how to do it yourself are two separate things. Very few of the most renowned critics in the world are also professionals in the field. It’s just fact.

If badges made you beyond reproach and criticism, Matt Taylor would still be manager and we’d be playing none league.

Those are good points. Mind you, is Comley the same sort of ‘midfield’ player as McEntee? I’d worry with Comley and Stirk together a little bit, unless Comley is more the holding player and it frees up Stirk to get forward more.

Well McEntee isn’t a midfield player so it’s hard to answer. So far he’s looked like a positionless headless chicken when playing there. I assume he’s “attempting” to play box to box.

And hey, if you can shoe horn a central defender in there you can show horn a defensive midfielder into it.

I’ve had to do the job for them on my last two house moves tbf. But I get your point. It’s a forum not to be taken awfully seriously imo, some people want to throw their two cents in and be in their way at least in my case.

And Harrogate signed his replacement in Josh March. Good pairing Armstrong and March, they’ll unsettle defenders.

When I worked as a mortgage adviser in certain locations (the more salubrious parts of the West Mids) customers almost took delight in telling me how mortgages worked and what was best for them. Unsurprisingly you could write on the back of a postage stamp what they knew and often walked away not taking what they waxed lyrical about in the first 2 minutes of a conversation

Always employ a professional especially a builder .if you can find one

Having qualifications doesn’t make you good at your job.

I’m not a qualified plumber but if they did a shoddy job I’d say something. Same here.

Absolutely

Shoddy yes….but to try to tell them you knew better than them on how to actually carry out the job?

On a different not and not Walsall related, but Sunderland sold Stewart to Southampton with a reported fee of £10m. Sunderland are currently beating them 4-0 with 20+ mins to go.

£10m + 3 points sounds like a great transfer deadline day

They just need Lord Kitchener now, to supply them with the ammunition!

To bring everything down to earth, whilst mowing my front lawn, torn to bits by squirrels hiding nuts etc, a neighbour got in his car with his 17 y o son, dressed to kill in a rather professional snazzy footy strip. Seems he plays for Oldham reserves. When ya think about it every match is just a bunch of kids and blokes playing another set of kids and blokes. Some are better at it than the others, no matter how many ‘stinking’ badges their ‘manager’ may possess, or what system is played, it’s a game of footy, mistakes are made, slices of luck are encountered, as well as profound nous from nowhere, that’s what makes it so good to watch. No need for over analysis.

But nobody has said they know better! People are criticising what they’re seeing and giving their opinions.

And when those opinions differ people pull out the “you think you know best” bollocks. I can say what I think is best, doesn’t mean I’m right or wrong.
