Our best performance since being back in league 2, every player can be proud of their performance today. Hopefully the rumours of the signings Monday are confirmed and we get some much needed strikers in especially if Gordon has a pulled hammy.
Hopefully this season will show the benefit of sticking with Sadler and having a more settled squad going into the season.
Enjoy. I hope it is not the high point of our season. No reason to think it will be.
As effective a 90 minutes as Iâve seen us produce for a good while.
Certainly our best performance for several years. We dominated essentially the whole game and, apart from the long range shot that hit the post, they never looked like scoring, wheras we could have had a few more.
No passengers today, everyone did their job and we have some mighty defence, with good players on the bench. And we are able to bring on Earing, Odamah and Maher as subs of quality in a midfield that buzzes. Early days but perhaps not the disaster of a season some were predicting.
If I had to choose a MOTM, and it is tough, Iâd say Stirk who was absolutely everywhere.
4 goals, 3 from the forward positions.
I hope Taylor Allen does not have too low a buy outfee.
Just got back, great performance with some good finishes and some great defending at times.
Impressed with Barrett, he wins a lot of headers giving us another outlet. That was probably Stirk and Priestleyâs best games for us, really commanded that central spine of the team well. Thought Lakin grew into the game so hopefully he is finding his feet.
We have shown we can score goals today, although we obviously still need reinforcements. I still canât help feeling nervous that if we go a goal down do we have enough, and if Smithâs effort had gone in rather than hit the post, after we had missed a couple of good chances, the game could have gone differently.
We can only beat what is in front of us and weâve done that, much more convincingly today than against Morecambe. Canât help think weâve come up against two basket case clubs at the moment so there will be tougher tests ahead. Wins breed confidence so feels like things are heading in the right direction.
Probably the most improved player Iâve ever seen.
11 months ago he played LCB at Swindon away just after Chris Husseyâs retirement and he looked weak and completely out of his depth.
Now he looks like a perfect LCB, his set piece delivery is brilliant and i think Donervon Daniels wonât be getting into this back three if Allen, Priest and McEntee are fully fit.
Donât forget Exeter and we was brilliant second half against them too. I wouldnât change our defence and keeper for anyone in this league. Our midfield much better this season. We look a decent team. Iâll eat humble pie all day long with the start weâve had.
At some point Saddler is going to be faced with the same situation as last year, what to do with Donervon DanielsâŚhopefully he will have learned from last year
It literally feels like a dream. Best Iâve seen us play since we dropped to league 2. Their keeper also made 3 excellent saves - it could have been 7!!
Donât think I could have scripted better. Our strike force needed goals and they duly delivered. The Jamma one was probably my favourite - although Taylorâs free kick was sublime.
Taylor Allen my man of the match - a great goal, and an assist. But it could have easily gone to Stirk who broke up play so well. Just love Adomah and want to see more of him. Weâre lucky to have him - he could still do a job in the championship and certainly league one.
People might point to Swindon being a basket case club, but they held Chesterfield to a draw last week, so they canât be that bad. We made them look worse than Morecambe.
Team spirit seems so good right now - Sadlerâs really got 'em firing. Massive credit to him and the management team. Our fans were amazing and never stopped singing from about 15 minutes before the game to 20 minutes after!!
This could be a special season and Iâm already looking forward to Tranmere. UTS!!!
