Taylor Allen progression arc has been nothing short of remarkable, think we were all surprised when he was offered a contract. Can’t see how he gets dropped now, got to be one of the best CB lines in the league if we can keep them fit.
I’m glad that I have recently bought shares in Humble Pie PLC. Sales are rocketing
Very astute.
I’m gonna mention Barrett again - his first thought is to attack, and he’s aggressive, tenacious and quick. He’ll be a firm favourite im sure. We’ll have to wait till we face a better team to see how he copes defensively - from what I’ve seen so far, he’s a little naive. But that pull back for Adomah - looked simple but compare it to what Knowles would’ve done.
I thought Lakin had a quiet game, wasn’t that involved, looking forward to seeing him play when he gets properly going.
The March to 83
22 wins
11 Draws
11 Defeats
To go
Although can’t see this side losing 11 after today - can’t see us concerning 11
Mean Machine
We’ve got this
Brilliant performance. Not a weak link in the side today. Apart from a brief spell 15 mins into the first half, we completely dominated the game. The most complete performance I have seen from a Walsall side in many years.
Enjoying being top of the league for a week, by when if ends hopefully we’ll have a couple more attacking reinforcements to choose from. UTS!
He’s currently the top scorer in the league
Been said earlier, the composure by Barrett (first season in the FL) to make that pass to Unc, is better that anything Knowles ever produced, he would have gone mental and gone for a throw the other side or out for a goal kick.
That was just sublime. Dominated from start to finish. I actually think the performance today was better than the Grimsby result last season. We were that good today i couldn’t name a man of the match, no-one stood out, the players were all excellent. And a mention to our fans. 607 of us and we sang all through the game. Superb support. Didn’t hear Swindon once. Really enjoyed today, still on a high. I’m going to enjoy our top spot while i can “we are top of the league, say we are top of the league”
I’d say so. At the time I thought we deserved our win at Grimsby (after going a goal down) but I thought Grimsby were a bit unfortunate to ship 6 goals. A two - max 3 - goal margin was about it. Today it seems we could have had more than the four. And we had a clean sheet.
Was saying this on the way back…exactly the same position as 2022/23. We then played Stevenage at home in the third game and conceded an injury time equaliser. After that it was downhill til a mini revival in winter before the Leicester FA cup defeat saw our season capitulate.
I have a better feeling about this season though IF we can get the right forwards in to support the ones we have already.
Not my MOTM but he was heavily involved, lots of runs, lots of support play and some probing attacks in the second half.
Well done to coaching team
Simkin better keeper than Evans
Barratt better than Knowles
Allen improvement impressive
Jellis great addition with so much energy
Stirk learning and settling into Comleys void
McEntee amd Priest look super fit again
Maher loan has improved his development
Josh and Matt look fitter than last season
Dave and Harry look excellent replacement CBs
But overall team spirit is best ive seen since Graydons time

In the three games so far this season, we’ve only conceded three shots on target.
On Taylor allen he’s been fantastic and long may it continue.
He’s playing in a position that suits him and the team.Definitely not a wing back because he hasn’t got the pace needed for that role but his reading of the game and touch composure and passing and finishing has been a joy to watch and if needed im sure he could slot into central midfield and be effective.
One thing the Swindon manager mentioned was the way were physically dominant at the back and up front. Farquharson and McEntee are pretty tough cookies and with Jamma all over you and Gordon biting at your hells, we can’t be easy to play against.
It was an absolute pleasure and joy to be at the game today. It’s moments like today that make supporting Walsall so worthwhile. So happy and pleased for the fans in attendance today to experience that after some of the lows and disappointments in recent times. There’s nothing quite like soaking in an atmosphere during a performance like today.
One of my biggest criticisms from last season was how slow and ponderous we would start games and how many early goals we would concede. That’s what made today so pleasing and encouraging, as we were on it from the first whistle and absolutely flew out of the blocks.
Our press was intense, relentless and a real collective effort throughout the whole game, and Swindon simply couldn’t cope or contend with it. The energy and effort that the whole team displayed and expended today was outstanding and they didn’t slow down even at 4-0 up.
I am shocked to hear Sadler state that Jellis probably shouldn’t have played today and is still on antibiotics I’m in awe at the fact that the bloke was everywhere again today, closing players down like a maniac. The tenacity in his game is something else and is clearly contagious. It is evident to see how much this team is battling and fighting for one another and it was refreshing to see us physically dominate another team for a change. We won so many first contacts, and second and third balls today.
I don’t think you can overstate how important it has been to have that continuity with the same group of players going into this season. I keep forgetting how young our squad actually is, and they are all a year older and wiser, and growing more accustomed to each other’s game.
Hopefully today’s performance and the current league table will be a good advert and put us firmly in the shop window for some of these Prem and Championship clubs to be more inclined to loan us out a striker or two as we desperately need them now.
I will admit that I was one of the biggest critics of Sadler going into this season and incredibly pessimistic about the prospect of him being at the helm moving forward. I know it is still very early days and we can’t drink the kool-aid after three games but I am already seeing signs and indications of where this squad of players could be.
Hope you fellow Saddlers are celebrating and savouring that victory tonight! What a day.
