How did we finance the training ground was that Bond / Transfer sales?
I think it is leased, but there will have been development costs.
At one point we owed around £2m to our directors (obviously including JB), from memory, all of Bonsors loans were repaid when LP took over.
I think all other loans from directors were repaid when Trivela purchased the club.
I guess you asked the wrong person for an opinion but here you go. Bonsers pension fund charged a commercial rent for the rent of the ground. Trivela have taken out a massive loan via a mortgage of which we are yet to see any benefit evidenced by the scraping around for dregs in the transfer market and the general quality of player and assumed wages. Jurys out for me on that one. Trivelas model is to make money, take it out of the club and pass it back to their investors as returns. Bonsors aim was to make money (pretty good at it wasn’t he) and put those earnings back on the pitch.
Thats it in a nutshell from me so I’ve answered your question
I hate what he did to our football club, yes. I don’t have any opinion on the man as I don’t know him.
Unlike yourself, I remember the many years of neglect and decline rather than a few seasons where he got lucky by employing good managers. The difference with Trivela in my opinion is that they’re rectifying many of the off field issues that stem directly from Bonser’s long term mis-management. Whilst they haven’t achieved anything of note on the pitch yet, I’m optimistic and hopeful that this will come in time.
This doesn’t mean they immune from criticism, and I’ve been the first to call them out on certain subjects, but as a whole the direction of travel is pointing towards a positive and sustainable model of success. Will it happen? God knows, that’s the beauty of sport.
FWIW, the only hate I’ve seen on this board is your borderline bullying of Douglas James-Taylor and constant attempts to undermine anything that Trivela are trying to do.
Just so we’re not clogging the thread, I’ll leave it there and I did try and PM this person but they’ve turned their messages off.
He just forgot to put it back on the pitch for the vast majority of the last 10 years of his tenure.
Unless he was razzing his R8 around the centre circle after games.
look no hard feelings but just get over it and move on. Those years were the most successful in a 100 plus year history and the records prove it. So will I spout all the stuff you do constantly ‘The Leech’ etc no way. Enjoy the rest of your day
I agree, but since when was Argentina part of Europe?
When’s Suntanman coming back?
his son has taken on the business. Boycott coukd do worse than make the phone call
I truly believe bonsor would have had us back in league 1 by now
Forgive me if im wrong but didnt pomlett use paul taylors or paul taylors sons firm as a go between, between himself and trivela when negotiating the sale. Again i may have dreamed it
Oh God. Might be true but await the onslaught
Nothing on trivela I like them and what they have done off the pitch
I don’t hate them either. Just think they are clueless ‘on the pitch’ maybe off it they have sine decent plans but that dosnt appear to funding a decent football team
Bjarni Laursson did a job for us as well
Oh yes forgot about him. Great player. Icelandic ?
transfermrkt.co.uk lists at least 50 players plying their trade in League 2, from 34 non-UK countries, including 12 EEA nations. I’m not sure of their immigration status but clearly the door does not seem to have closed completely.
Maybe they think Burton on Trent is part of Bulgaria ?
