In League Two, we’re all just different numbers on the Bristol Stool Chart. You know, hence the name. Number 2.
I’ll humour you……
It’s the difference between having a winning mentality and being complacent, dismissive and disrespectful towards opponents based simply on a league position or their form three months ago.
A winning mentality will be to treat the opposition with complete respect, do your proper preparation, due diligence and prepare absolutely thoroughly.
You seem to think a winning mentality involves the phrase “this lot are crap, we simply have to win”
It’s childish and ignorant and I honestly thought better of you. You sound like someone else on here who I won’t acknowledge or mention!!
Don’t go there mate. The question marks at the end of a sentence should point you in the right direction.
I’m sorry, I have no idea what you have posted has to do with anything I’ve said this evening.
Can you try again?
I think that’s very possible
No. Work it out mate . I don’t care if you don’t want to.
Go on cs mention is name dare you
I’m just unsure how you have extrapolated “don’t train and prepare” from “FGR are crap”.
Can you show me where, I, or others, said we shouldn’t prepare for the match and instead do nothing ?
Please quote the text. Thanks.
Good grief this is tedious reading
I agree. I can’t quite believe the ‘argument’
Can we all just agree that it’s a bad result if we lose at home to Forest Green?
I’m in the not arsed camp
Oh come on that’s poor even in this climate.
I’ll leave you to it mate. I’m not falling out with someone who’s views I normally quite respect……I have enough trouble falling out with those I don’t.
Every Walsall fan going to the game on same is expecting them to win and if they don’t win some fans will boo it’s what happens at sporting events it’s been going on for donkeys years why cut the team and manager some slack when they don’t produce enough of what the fans expect
With respect - you put a straw man argument in.
No one said that we shouldn’t prepare for a game. That was a little disingenuous and a deflection.
The funny thing is - I think we’d all agree that it would be a bad result if we lost against FGR? We seem to be arguing over how crap a team is, in comparison to how crap we are.
That tells a story in itself
I sometimes wonder why so some fans even bother supporting Walsall, i understand its annoying being a Walsall fan at times but to be constantly negative about the club at every chance must wear thin at times.
We have never been world beaters nor will we ever be world beaters. We have been between league 1 & 2 for most of our history with the odd flirt with championship.
Before the doomers attack all I’m saying is its not all bad and brighter days are ahead and darker days but thats football its the same for all clubs just on different scale the higher or lower you go on the football pyramid.
No that wasn’t my point. It wasn’t deflection.
You stated they were crap and when people tried to point out that actually that’s not really accurate and definitely not really relevent to the point (which was, if I remember correctly - along the lines of, was it inexcusable to lose to them), you said that thought process displayed a lack of winning mentality.
I asked you if you thought Matt Sadler should go along the lines of “this lot are crap and we can expect to beat them easily” would mean he had a winning mentality or whether him going about his business, preparing properly and showing them the respect all clubs at this level deserve, by doing his due diligence, would be a winning mentality?
If you can’t answer that I’ve done you a huge disservice.
Put your tin hat on
Look. If we get thumped at home to forest Green Rovers. This will be not be acceptable. If we then lose to Tranmere he’s a goner. Get over it
I’ve done you a huge disservice because confirmation bias has hit new levels when people are prepping excuses pre-match…
Unfortunately, I am not manager of Walsall FC.
I think you are confusing the winning mentality of football supporters, and expectations - with… match preparation by Mat Sadler?
Football is a results business - I don’t think all the semantics mentioned above really impacts the main thrust of the argumentation this evening.
It is a very bad result if we lose at home to second bottom of the football league. Why? Because they are 2nd bottom of the football league.
I can’t quite believe I have to reiterate that. What that (supporter punditry) has to do with match preparation… I am unsure.
To be clear, I would expect that we are fully prepared and motivated for every single time we step on to a football pitch.
I’m sure you mean fortunately.
It’s not that at all.
11 hours ago I said this….
“There are no games in this league that losing is inexcusable.
They’re all pro footballers.
I hope and expect us to win. Losing would be disappointing and a real set back. That’s all.”
At no point have I said anything different.
When people go down the route of “they’re 23rd” “they’re crap” “we simply have to win” it’s showing a huge ignorance to the level of any pro footballer and any self respecting pro football team.
I expect us to win, because we are at home and I believe we have better players and will be better prepared.
My concern is they have shown signs of improvement recently and won’t be the roll over some fans may think based on their league position.
It’s possible that events may transpire on the day that mean we don’t win and in a two horse race that’s entirely possible. All sorts of reasons for this are possible.
Its disrespectful and dismissive to make an assumption of a teams ability to beat you based simply on a league table (my bet is you’ve seen them once - in the PJT against us?). Of course the league table may offer you a degree of probability but it rules out nothing. You’d be foolish to think it did.
