The Mat Sadler Thread

Never has so much been written about so little. Every defeat is bad for me and most draws at home too…we beat Stockport somehow, we might lose to FGR somehow and it will be bad. End of story. Goodnight.

Wrong!!!. How can you support a club yet know none of its history. We have never really been a 4th division club. We had that brief spell in the early Bonser days but that team was like Brazil compared to this current lot. We then had one season in the 4th when Bonser took us up as champions. When Bonser had enough of all the grief and handed over to Pomlett we became a 4th division club.

But a book mate :joy:

In a very specific scenario (one of many before you point out :joy:) Do you think Sadler will be in trouble if we lost to FGR, somehow lost to Alfreton and get lamped by Notts County?

I think he will be. I’m just trying to work out under what conditions the SDL (Sadler Defence League) would admit they might have got it wrong.

It seems to me, from the arguments put forward, that he is unsackable.

No it’s not.

As it is based on this:

That is a contradiction.

Can you stop being very unfair against the FGR players please - I am unsure you have huge ignorance of any professional level of football if you don’t think that FGR will be prepared and they have worse players. That’s outrageous!

Except that’s not true. Since the reformation of the pyramid we have been at the third level for most of it. We literally have the record for division 3/League One games and wins and losses. We are the quintessential League One club. There’s no way being 17th in the Division 4 is our standard, no matter how much you want to spin it to be.

Utter nonsense.

Being a fan of something, and loyal to it, doesn’t mean you just ignore anything negative and pretend everything is rosey. You should know that, you change your tune normally around the turn of the season.

The current regime have our lowest finish at the level :joy: well Pomlett anyway.

But, sure, “doomers” :joy: yeah you’re right, last few years have been quality! :joy:

It is mate. And the fact you think it isn’t kind of proves the point.

There’s a fag paper between the levels of most footballers in any given division. The biggest difference between the players isn’t how much ability it’s how often they can put it all together…it’s why there are cup shocks every single season.

Why are we wasting our energy responding to this constant utter crap. Sadler was not even mentioned in the last Boycott update. No recognition. No mention of a the good job he’s doing. If we lose to FGR and Tranmere he’s a goner. Boycott can see the ££££s disappearing. Dread to think of the fgr attendance and we have sold 80 tickets for the next away game!!!

I believe……translates to in my opinion.

Overall I think we are a better side than them and will perform better more often than they will. But on any given day they will be capable of outperforming us.

I’m not sure why you feel the need to be obtuse over it.

Hmmm. Why’s that?

I don’t know what level you have played at - but it might shock you to know that I have also played at a high level. I don’t think you should be so dismissive of others - in favour of yourself. Or at least, you shouldn’t assume.

Good post el. 4th division is the peel85 standard because that’s all he knows. He certainly as you rightly point out knows nothing about the history of wfc

What level of football you or I have played is pretty irrelevant. It’s simply about understanding that pro footballers competing in the same league as other pro footballers a) won’t be “crap” and b) their professionalism will more often than not not allow them to be push overs.

Again, I think you’re confusing posting as a fan on a football message board - with pro level management.

No I’m not.

I’m done here mate.

Seriously you’ve sunk to the levels of argument normally reserved for some posters I consider really ignorant and pedantic.

Let’s agree to move on.

What are you getting out of this one man crusade to support Sadler.

I’m sure he will welcome that. He won’t have to skip over the 10 page lectures

As are you… you don’t need to be so defensive. I don’t actually know what point of the argument is - again, at the end of the day… if we lost to second bottom of the football league at home… that’s a very bad result. We’ve all agreed on that. It seems as though it’s the reason why we might not win that’s causing some issue.

That said. I went to the Scunthorpe away game under MT. I can confirm Scunthorpe were crap - and the worst team I’ve ever seen at this level.

…. And we still lost :joy::man_facepalming:t2:

The SDL is nervous it seems!:grin:

Well I’ll go back to this then

History shows we are a below average football league club in both league History and club size.
Whats hard to understand about that.
