People coming on here again blaming fans for moaning. Same fans kept their money in the club during lockdown take a look at the plaque at the ground. I honestly believe that if the fans didn’t give him hell at the appropriate times Pomlett would have had us in theNational league now. Sacking Sadler is the last hand the board have to play now before the early birds.
It’s actually not that bad on here. Social media is terrible. There seems to be more people moaning about fans moaning than there are fans moaning!
I often see statements about how terrible Walsall fans are, from erm… Walsall fans, they must have super powers or something or be far superior in some way.
There is of course moaning for moaning sake sometimes but as you rightly say there are times when the club needs to be held to account and have questions asked of it. I believe there is room and even a need for all kinds of fans from those that follow blindly regardless to those that pick up on all the faults. None are more important in any way, we are all Walsall fans, just wishing for some hope of a little better.
I don’t think anyone can be happy with our current situation. Yesterday was very poor and our inconsistency is very alarming. It certainly has something to do with the comparative youth of our team and the inexperience of our Manager. However the reaction of some of our fans yesterday was unacceptable in my view. The treatment of Evans in particular. He is a good goalkeeper and didn’t deserve that…
On the manager unless we go on a long winless run I cannot see him being sacked for the reasons well articulated above by Dan and others. Despite our defensive calamities yesterday (or maybe part of the cause) it is the lack of ability at the other end of the pitch especially since Draper left that causes us to be so low in the League. Trivela , if they want promotion, must find the money in the Summer to find us some quality attacking options. If that happens and we don’t improve then Sadler will have to go.
I don’t think anyone is blaming fans for moaning. We were all moaning yesterday. Its how you do it…if its true BB was abused then that is not acceptable. I have already mentioned the treatment of Evans .That sort of stuff does no credit to anyone.
Has anyone got the up to date points comparison to previous seasons? That’s always interesting to see.
And Smith I think.
Probably @Semaj is the man for that.
After 29 games we had:-
in 19-20 - 36 points
in 20-21 - 37 points
in 21-22 - 29 points
in 22-23 - 41 points
Thanks Jumbo, just adding a bit more data:
in 19-20 we had 36 points after 29 matches; and ended the Covid affected season with 47 points from 36 games, which is equivalent to 60 points from 46 matches.
Since Covid:
in 20-21 - 37 points after 29 matches and ended the season with 53 points
in 21-22 - 29 points after 29 matches and ended the season with 54 points
in 22-23 - 41 points after 29 matches and ended the season with 55 points
in 23-24 - 38 points after 29 matches
If we get 18 points from our next 17 matches we will finish on 56 points, and we will be maintaining the steady progress of the previous two seasons and be on target to reach the play-offs in 2044 and promotion in 2050
Possibly, but they didn’t mention an option when he was signed.
Ironically. This very laid back on well attitude saw little to no opposition while JB / Suffolk Life took a lot of money from Walsall Football Club.
Must have been a tick in the pro WALSALL FC column when Trivella decided to buy us. The fans might grumble but never mobilise.
Performance was diabolical - I choose not to boo but understand everyone expresses their frustrations differently.
For me, yesterday’s treatment of Evans was poor by our supporters. I agree he shouldn’t have come straight back into the side, Smith had been playing well and for me deserved to keep his place. However last year Evans was having his praises sung when he was keeping us in games. Those same fans yesterday singling him out with that level of abuse for me was too much. There were 10 players in front of him that were equally poor. I also think Smith was probably sat their thinking what might happen if he drops a clanger at some point. Those same fans singing his name will be booing him no doubt.
As a team our performances of late have been dreadful and the worst thing for me is how inconsistent we are performance wise from one week to the next but just think it’s worth remembering that there were 11 poor players yesterday not just one.
Matt Saddler is a whole other conversation. We have to stop bringing in managers to learn the trade at the club. There has to be hope of improvement and unfortunately i can’t see much.
Where I agree with the whole we can’t keep sacking manager line, for me this is a unique situation as Sadler should never have been given the job in the first place.
We appointment a rookie manager with no real credentials and that’s now showing.
Well boycott will be happy.
Shows incremental progress
the classic go and support wolves everytime.
I’ll be retired before we get out of this dogturd of a league (2038 btw). Love the incremental progress
I can’t even retire until I’m likely 71 so I’ll be fine
Don’t see how Sadler should be given another season based on a handful of games if we carry on churning this tripe out he has to go.
What gets me is not necessarily sadler… its the fact that constant teams are coming up from none league and over taking us or are in the same league and progressing… we just seem to be stagnant no matter who the manager or players are… wimbledon, barrow, harrogate, fleetwood, burton, lincoln forest green, just to name a few
You can argue that they have momentum when getting promoted from the national league and as it’s only two promotion spots most teams have to really exceed and be consistent to do it. So in that sense it sets up them up nicely the following season or two unless their squad gets pillaged. Quite often they have decent money backing them aswell.
Not an excuse though, we should be doing a better job on the pitch than we have done for ages now.
