Similar to someone like Louie Barry, I would argue, who Stockport are now trying to secure on a permanent deal, following their promotion.
I think he’s been mentioned already, but Joel Senior (RB) is out of contract and would be an upgrade on our current defensive options in that position. Fans’ player of the year and players’ player, plus 50 games in all comps.
I’m fed up of us signing old players, I’d like us to go for Joel Junior instead.

Just spotted Elijah, Troy, Milan & Martin O’Neill leaving the Long Horn, in a VW Touran. They pulled into Gillity Avenue & a Vauxhall Mokka pulled over in front of them; I can’t be sure but it looked like O’Kelly was driving with Siggy & Mo in the back.

Without trying to be rude, he was talking rubbish not for the first or last time.
He first made out that if Luton got to the Premier League it would be the biggest windfall in the Club’s history. Then when that happened and everyone was excited about it, he changed his mind and said he meant if Adebeyo was sold to a Premier League club, can’t have it both ways. What add ons are there that can be worth more ?
10% of 10-15 million is still a decent bonus for us. He will no doubt stay at Luton now!

Would do very well there if one of Olise/Eze stays.
Palace also spend 10m + on players of that profile in last five years so I think that’s a promising link and would give a sizeable boost to the budget to get in a proven striker for this level.
Watch him do his ACL in the last minute on the final day now…

A player who I have always liked when I’ve seen him and often admired, but at 34 a 2 year deal comes at high risk with no resale value through his contract. Players legs can go quite quickly no matter how much they look after themselves.

Yes, it’s why I’ve changed my mind on Matt and on reflection I don’t think we should re-sign him. We don’t get him fit often enough and it’s a wage that can be better spent on a player who is likely to be fit and available every week. Madden is the same age as Matt now, two years is a big contract at this level to give a 34 year old. Had we signed a 32 year old Matt when FGR won promotion it would have looked a fabulous signing but look at his output over the past 2 seasons and it hasn’t represented good value for money. Not to say Madden won’t do well but he’s got 27 goals in the past 2 seasons for Stockport, I think it’s reasonable to expect some drop off from those numbers at his age.

Hmm. People would have said that about Matt when we signed him. I did.
There’s this temptation to believe that anyone coming up from non league now are these money bags sides that are immediately going to be a threat, but there’s money all the way through the league these days (including ourselves supposedly).
Good record but I’ve had my fill of just past it players, they’ve virtually all turned out to be shit recently. Players of around his age or older in our signings since relegation include: Chris Hussey (lol), Andy Williams (One of the worst players I have ever seen in a Walsall shirt), Peter Clarke (who looked … slow), Jamille Matt, Stephen Ward (dreadful), Lee Tomlin (fat), Mat Sadler (legs had gone and wasn’t that great to begin with), Gary Liddle (down there with Andy Williams for terrible Walsall players) and Danny Guthrie (also fat).
I’m sort of past singing players 33 and over to be honest at this level. They’re normally expensive and on the way out. It wouldn’t surprise me if he’s decent for them but I’d be less shocked if his production went down.
