Insulting. Really?
No, most would be calling for him to go to the zoo for the day!!
Perhaps the wrong choice of words.
The point was being made that Sadler protects his players in public. Iām not sure that is the case when he is saying that Levi is right down the pecking order, when you consider some of the players ahead of him. Assuming he has any belief in his own ability, I doubt he is pleased by this.
If Levi is down the pecking order because he has neglected his own personal fitness over the summer then the problem is all his own making, nothing to do with the manager.
As a professional footballer regardless of ability the minimum requirement is that you maintain the level of fitness required to do the job.
Where is the evidence of this?
Not the point I was making.
I was responding to someone that said Sadler protects his players in public.
Did Sadler say he isnāt fit? I assumed his comments were based on ability, perhaps I missed something.
For what itās worth, I donāt think Levi is good enough, but that says a lot about the forward line we are going into the season with.
Apologies I jumped in on your original post without finding out the facts, I assumed you were saying Sadler had questioned his fitness. Iām slightly confused with your last post, are you saying you think the forward line is good or bad.
I have in the past said I think it is one of Sadlers best qualities that he doesnāt hang players out to dry , I still believe that there was a lot more to the DJ situation than we know.
As regards the strength of the current forward line I think it remains to be seen, I am inclined to agree with you on Levi I really hope he proves me completely wrong,
Presley looks ok depending on the service he gets which has looked pretty good so far, Iām assuming Matt will be his back up , the lad from Bournemouth is obviously well regarded hopefully he can make some sort of impact, Flash is Flash if he keeps clear of injury and can rebuild his confidence without the fans getting on his back he can definitely be a good option to have, especially with the style of play we are likely to have.
I think Pressley will do alright. I do think a lot is resting on Stuttle being good. We donāt really know until he has had a run of games.
We will have to agree to disagree about Josh Gordon. Not that I will be on his back. He seems to struggle with hamstring injuries now too.
I think Levi could have contributed, he scored 4 didnāt he last season, so you could expect 10 for the season. Looks like he may be on his way out to me though.
Levi isnāt great in my opinion but he works hard.
He offers a similar thing to Gordon (a pain to play against) but with a goal threat.
We need something extra upfront but it should be Gordon going to make room, not Levi IMO.
Heās just making it up and chatting ~modded~ as per usual.
Levi has literally posted Instagram stories of him training over the entire break.
Thereās no actual evidence of anyone leaving just a rumour up this thread.
āPlayer in not selected as others signed who may be better shockā
The thread was progressing based on Sadlerās comments and the interpretation of what that meant - I then contributed my view based on that situation.
Iām aware that itās speculation, almost everything on here is.
Careful
It is a transfer rumours thread,
one of very few posts actually on topic.
Anyhow, Mr Sadler thought J. Gordon, Uncle Albert and DJT were better forwards than Danny Johnson. His opinion on centre forwards doesnāt hold too much weight with me.
He also has history of dropping players out of the squad for reasons unknown, which he is entitled to do, but there will always be speculation about it.
You are correct there will always be speculation , trouble is when people take speculation as fact , especially if itās negative.
TRue, but this isnāt even speculation about a rumoured transfer.
Itās just people suggesting that Levi hasnāt played as thereās some kind of fall out with Sadler, as this always happens because he freezes plyers out inexplicably
People were complaining about our forward line, in the interview posted by @Semaj Sadler basically said that, as a result of our recruitment, we have so much strength in depth that Levi isnāt 1st/2nd choice, Weāve replaced Harrison/DJ with Pressley, and Stuttle is the new Freddie/Lowe. Gordonās alive ( Couldnāt resist the quote there) meaning it looks like weāre pretty much set up as last year forwardwise. Adomah filling in as forward/acm and Levi is now the development player instead of DJT, who heās probably an upgrade on. Matt will feature but most likely less than last season, barring ijuries, which was probably also intended last time.
There is no evidence and itās not a fact ! .itās all been explained pay attention it was a conclusion made by someone who doesnāt like others jumping to conclusions that come over as fact .simples.thats my conclusion. But I may be wrong
Iām not too keen on replicating what happened last season apart from Lowe.
Pressley is Mattās replacement. Matt will be back up to him, Iād imagine.
Draper was being signed to take the pressure off Matt (confirmed at the fans forum), so I assume if we had got him, Pressley wouldnāt have been signed.
Stuttle will indeed be expected to play the Lowe role, a lot resting on his shoulders.
Gordon and Adomah (as a forward) get in the bin with that.
Levi a development player at almost 25, I donāt think so.
If Matt has got to be treated like a sick child, thereās a simple way to get round it, donāt keep renewing his contract.
If Levi does go( and thereās no evidence that he will at this stage) then Iād imagine we will get someone else in. Possibly with the lad from Burnley that @Bags10 was on about
