First half of the season every game we brought on Earing and Hall, then at Christmas they got injured.
This season we have Clarke and Hollman off the bench in those same positions and going off Saturday, Clarke especially, he’s going to be so so good for us.
Re Gordon, he needs to go out on loan. Great substitutions from Sadler Saturday to stretch them. Ironically that sort of game is the only type i’d have considered bringing Gordon on in.
If i’m being greedy id like another striker, another defensive midfielder and another centre half
Agree - Adomah did a great job though when he came on and I think that’s Flash’s problem. Alberts a better footballer - just as fit - and probably about as good a finisher as Flash. Also more adaptable - So Albert gets what would be Flash’'s place on the bench for me. Only way Flash gets in is if Albert gets injured or needs a rest. I still don’t think Albert’s a Striker though - just useful upfront in certain situations. Needs to be out wide for me.
Yeah 100% not a striker, but Albert occupies and worries the opposition which is why he did well and is what we needed to give the defence some sort of a break from relentless attacking. Clarke as well who I thought was a wing back, looked good in midfield, when the game was opening up. Big with explosive pace.
So true. DJ could have offered us a different end to the season had he been on the bench at Newport, but Sadler stuck to his formula.
Clarke though made a huge impact on the game on Saturday and not in his nominal position as Barrett’s sub. Perhaps Sadler is learning, but the worry is, when the going gets tough, people often revert to and cling-on, life raft-like, to what they know.
