Ah he’s obviously read the book that lovely person who’s getting on a bit gave him ( twice ) what a charming story .so the mentoring is working .
Or his goal tally from the previous 3 seasons: 3, 6, 1 (or predicted for the next 3 with us!!)
Definitely this!!
The goalkeeping situation is so poor bordering on pathetic. we have an untried keeper who has played 1 league game. With the squad the way it is also I don’t think the budget cut assumption is disappearing any time soon
Sadler is as lucky as Southgate at keeping a job
Unlike Rushforth who had played none.
And Jackson Smith who had played none.
I think Simkin might surprise a few - potentially best keeper since Rushworth. Having said that we absolutely need somebody else as young keepers carry with them a larger risk. Weren’t we linked with Max Dearden recently? - somebody like that - lots of experience but want to make the step up to league football.
I agree we need a second keeper but I am assuming Simkin will be first choice, so anyone wanting a step up might see it as an issue.
Max Dearnley has since signed for Macclesfield.
Max Dean has just signed for Gent in the Belgian top flight, from MK Dons. Mentioned on this thread when discussing the Stoke loanee (both players ripped us a new one when we lost by 5).
In Simkin we have a keeper with a huge future, we are lucky to have him.
I do hope @gensanx has a large, warm slice of humble pie ready to eat.
Anyone remember Vicente Reyes in goal for FGR last season? - young keeper on loan from Norwich. He played an absolute blinder against us at their place - I think also he must have kept Simkin out the team? He’s gone to Cambridge this season. Looking forward to seeing what Simkin can do, and hopefully he can win us a few games - like Reyes did for FGR last season.
To be fair, gensanx would find something wrong with the pie to moan about.
I reckon the 2nd keeper will end up being Max Harris. Released by Cheltenham, limited experience, probs cheap.
I only like steak and kidney
Can’t believe we’re waiting for two new strikers to make their mind up, Sod’s Law they will fook off somewhere else and we will be left with no hope , gods hope and fook all hope
…and Fook All Hope won’t get a work permit.
Noticed that Tezgel scored twice for Stoke last night, with Sadler constantly praising the Stoke links, it wouldn’t surprise me if we took him on loan once they sign a couple of strikers themselves.
Tezgel on a season loan and Faal permanent would be good business.
I don’t think we have any change of Faal on a perm, I reckon he will be looking at league 1.
