The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread 2024 II

Darlo at least this puts some facts to the lack of budget rather than uneducated nonsense.

Just had a look and tbf that would take a big investment from Trivela

Would any striker worth having still be sat on his arse waiting for a call.

well I think this song says it all…

Busy Doing Nothing (1949) - Bing Crosby (youtube.com)

Well yes if he is contacted to another club and the selling club will only complete the deal once a replacement is found.

Not saying this is the case for us but it does happen

Very…i find it extremely frustrating the forward situation hasn’t been sorted. Knew DJT was going out on loan. Obviously the DJ situation they’ve known since pre season began. Top end of the pitch will get you promotion or close to it. 2 weeks until the start of the season and we have 2 lads: 1. Jamma who works hard but will lucky to get 30 games out of and 2: JG who again works hard but with little end product in the system we play. What system did they play in Barrow for him to get 15 goals?. Needs sorting ASAP

Not sure about the budget, feels like it is less but we have paid a few fees, haven’t we?

Ignore me, I am just a bit disappointed we haven’t got someone in. It could still happen as you say.

We’ve also recouped fees in recent years. There’s no excuse for the level this squad is at, and I don’t blame Sadler for that really.

Staggering. Absolutely Staggering.

Fair point, we have had the Hutch transfer fee this season.

Heading towards the season with a non scoring striker and one who can’t stay fit or finish more than about 45 minutes feels pretty bad,

And don’t forget Adebayo reaching the Prem is the ā€œbest deal in this clubs historyā€.

I just can’t work out the Trivela plan ?. we are now so uncompetitive in the transfer market we could only dream of securing a lower league Journey man striker such as Matt Smith. Look at all those journeyman strikers Morroco Mole listed that we had enquired about but failed. Things were never this bad pre Pomlett /Trivela

They were to be fair. Probably worse at some points. I could name countless of examples where Bonser failed to pay relatively small amounts to sign good players. That’s not an excuse though, we shouldn’t be in this position.

Not on my view they wernt. This Pomlett /Trivela period the worst in my living memory in terms of football on the pitch

That the same Matt Smith that has stated he’s looking into work outside of football, why would we want someone that isn’t interested in football, wasn’t the club slated for doing that last year when Chris Hussey left?

yawwwwn. And all those other lower league journeymen we enquired about but missed out on ?

Or that we’ve decided the trialists aren’t good enough either and are now turning attention elsewhere.

I’m disappointed that we haven’t got a goalscorer in yet but still hopeful with a couple of weeks or so left yet, not writing anything off until the window closes as I’m sure we’ll bring someone in before then.

A loan or these trialists will however stink of desperation.

Never in our history have we stopped playing a player due to potentially triggering a clause and getting relegated or been on the march towards a potential promotion push and sold two of our best players in the January derailing it…

Wonder what they will do with the Weavers Park ground .

I don’t really care about Fox and Dann now. We were at heights we simply never achieve again so far are we being taken backwards by this lot

Prior to the Powlett / Trivela era we existed as a business entity purely to be able to generate a small profit every year and drop £400k into Bonsers pension fund.

Any success we did have during that era was despite Bonsers involvement and not because of it.

Our relative decline over the past 20 odd years compared to other clubs happened on Jeff’s watch and he took his final pay day once he’d calculated that his business model had run its course.

While they may have made some mistakes Pomlett and Trivela are now having to rebuild the club from a very low point.
