The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread 2024 II

Do we take this as a plus?

Hard to work out isn’t it?

This is the same club who thought giving contracts to Jamille Matt and Josh Gordon were a good idea….

I wait with baited breath… but if we do pull of two/three cracking signings I’ll be well on board HMS piss the league

Need to back up the words does our Ben!!. Willing to give him a chance as he’s only been with us 5 mins. Hope we get 2 very good strikers in. Key to the season like everyone knows.

Alfie may wasn’t even professional at 21 so it may not be over yet for Malcolm

Just been having a pint with my Baglady cousin, who has contact with someone at the Hawthorns heirarchy who reckons the Faal loan/transfer to us is on hold until they know more about the lengthy negotiations with Southampton on the sale of Brandon Thomas-Asante. They are 2 million apart money wise. The bagladies want 8 million and the Saints are just under 6 million. The Saints have until the 1st August to make their mind up and we should know 100% of where we stand. Maybe this is why Trivela are being hesitant commiting to strikers ??

Daft isn’t it. We had him on trial too if i remember

During DC’s time in charge. Sure people said he looked the best of the trialists before leaving and signing on at Salford.

Played the first 45 minutes at Nuneaton away, barely touched the ball and got subbed off at half time and was never seen again.

Had a previous record of 3 goals in 48 before we took him on trial.

Almost like sometimes you have to take a chance on young players with the off chance they turn out to be good.

Almost like no footballer would ever exist without someone taking a chance…

Its a career of opportunities.

Better players like that get some experience in Non League then come back

Yet he didn’t, after his trial with us he signed for Salford then onto West Brom.

His career before than was MK Dons then loans at Sutton, Oxford City and Ebbsfleet with a grand total of 3 goals scored in 48 matches.

Edit - those three goals he scored were NL South which is equivalent to where Rushall are playing now. Imagine if we’d signed someone with that record, in order to give them a chance and progress.

Don’t talk facts with Gensanx…

I’m actually more annoyed with the Matt and Gordon signings than I would be with Malcolm or Kamwa. I wouldn’t mind them if we had got in two proper forwards.

Talking of the Nuneaton game, same day Kairo Edwards John scored twice for us and everyone wanted us to sign him.

Currently playing for Melton Town in the GCE Hire Fleet United Counties Football League :grinning:

I detect a smidgeon of irony, Seph!

Completely agree with this. Given Matt’s availability issues, and how unfit he looked against Villa, I really don’t see how he’s going to even be an impact player from the bench.

If DJ leaves, then trying to sign three strikers shouldn’t be out of the equation.

Or maybe if there are question marks over DJ/Matt for the first few weeks of the season, then there will be two striker signings aswell as Malcolm?

Tbf , Gordon was ok today obviously apart from scoring.
It is a issue that needs sorting though sooner rather than later.
I think the midfield, defence and keepers are ok .
But it will be a difficult season if we can’t improve our goalscoring.

Hope we can do something, thought we looked okay today against a team that has had a fortune spent on it. Really light up front, but liked the look of Lakin and Jellis.
Minimum 2 forwards are critical…
