Don’t tell me that was the summer when Rory Gaffney was signed last minute… :joy:

Another last grasp of the straw. Feels familiar again

First season in League 2, so yeah it was.

Loans are ok but should not be the ambitious option. If they do well, they will be gone in Jan.

If any of this is true, why are we just waiting and waiting for a loan signing who won’t be here this time next season and might even be gone in January, a situation Boycott wanted to avoid again.
Get your precious investors to cough up some cash and give us the goalscorer that this squad is crying out for.

Or we could just carry on making excuses for them because they arent Bonser same with Pomlett and his awful decisions and recruitment it was never his fault either.

Exactly this

I know were all getting a bit twitchy about strikers now as the season is just around the corner, I know I am, and it’s a real worry that we are hanging on in the hope that other clubs get who they are chasing before we get a sniff.

Got to hope and pray the rumours are right about deals already supposedly done behind the scenes, and are going to be revealed any day soon.

I think one at least, hopefully two, decent strikers required and close to being announced we would hope.

One of the most import positions, and granted, most expensive is always one of our last to be adequately filled, by that I mean strikers that’ll score us goals.

Yep. Can’t remember the last time anyone has been happy when the season starts…

Be interesting to see who people think our best opening partnerships have been in the last couple of decades…

Can’t remember the last time we had a happy season either. 8 years ago?

Whoever played with DJ when we rinsed Hartlepool 4-0, 2 seasons ago! That was a pretty good partnership.

We’re not happy because we very rarely start the season with a settled side, we’re always scrabbling around for players. The consequence of this is that we invariably get off to a bad start, and are playing catch-up. We end up losing to the likes of Morecambe!

Andy Williams? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

We had a make-shift defence against Morecambe, last season - Williams was thrown in before he was ready. I was more thinking of other seasons, like the current one, where we are still trying to sign key members of the team, right up to the start, or usually, after the season has started. We then have to play catch-up.

That’s alright then :joy::man_facepalming:

Andy Williams was okay, he wasn’t brilliant, but he scored some decent goals for us.

I know @el_nombre alluded to this but when was the last time we had anything to be happy about?

A few fleeting moments in almost a decade.

I genuinely used to be known as a happy clapper not that many years ago, those years have worn me down though, I tell ya.

He only scored 2 didn’t he? And one was a pen?

Sorry 3 I forgot the one v Carlisle in the cup where he walked it in.

But what a penalty! And he scored double what Flash did.
