The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread 2024 II

Oh well, he could always keep DJ company on the bench until Sadler decided that he wanted to play a game of proper footy

He’s a different midfielder to the one that left us, he’s more of a sitting midfielder like Comley now.

Completely agree, not doubt as with Adomah he is a class act, we would have to change style but that may be a good thing, could do with someone who can up our possession stats.

I also think Sawyers will be back, when his mate gets him another ticket for the game or he’s given a freebie.

Yeah, point still stands…

Pissing down here…it’ll be raining down with signings soon :cloud_with_rain::grinning::laughing:

Always amazes me this, with some footballers (not saying this applies to Sawyers as such) - you see them not playing for a team, as it is a division below or the wages aren’t enough compared to what they are used to, so sit around, not playing in the hope that a team will suddenly give them exactly what they want.
I’d have thought it would be much more beneficial to actually be playing and in the shop window - yes agree a 6 month contract with a club, maybe a division below and on less money for that period, on the understanding that if a bigger club comes in for you then it’s helped both parties out. By playing well and showing ā€˜you’ve still got it’ is more likely to get more interest in you than just relying on past glories or an agent on their phone all the time. Also, earning something has got be better than earning nothing, although some footballers aren’t exactly short of cash after a few seasons on a decent wack!

If it’s Sawyers, I hope it’s the Sawyers we enjoyed at Bescot and not the Bilic version who ruined him at the Baggies by playing him far too deep.
At his best Sawyers was a forward thinking creative midfielder, not the O’Connor / Chambers type.

I agree but i suppose the counter argument is, if they got injured and ruled out for the season on a short term contract they’d then not get paid for the whole season and could miss out on a multi year contract on big money

All 4 managers from Bilic onwards were guilty of playing him as a CDM, criminal.

I can’t wait to see what those fans who got on Hutchinson’s back for a lack of running despite often being top distance travelled have to say about Romaine if he does return :joy:

Possession stats we and the opposition ,in our case we can’t make more than 2 consecutive passes most of the time therefore we give it straight back to our opponents hence more possession them ,simple .Saturday a good example.

Sawyers would walk us into league 1 … too good for league 2… he could be the signing of the decade.
