Baker-Richardson has re-signed for Newport.

I’m waiting for meltdown when Faal joins Shrewsbury on a season long loan and we re-sign Lalkovic.

On the flip side you make it sound so positive.

Since when do we make really good signings…

Someone else try maybe better luck .

I actually think the upcoming season is a much stronger division than last theres potentially 10 teams who could at end of season be fighting for automatic let alone the play off positions

Better than being negative saying we’ll get relegated.

Do i think we’ll be in the top 3? Would be nice, but can’t see it.

Do i think we’ll push to be in the top 7? Yes

Do i think we currently have a team for that? Not quite yet

Will a couple of good signings change that? Yes

Amadou Bakayoko has left FGR any thoughts on him resigning for us?

Poor goals to games ratio for me.

1 goal in every 6 games on average.

We’ve lost Stockport, Mansfield, Wrexham, Crawley, Sutton and FGR.
We’ve gained Vale, Carlisle, Cheltenham, Fleetwood, Chesterfield and Bromley.

Every year we seem to say the same ā€˜strong division’, ā€˜there’s teams with much bigger resources than us’. Compared to last year I think it’s weaker and we need to make progress this year - no excuses.

Vale carlisle chesterfield and cheltenham are all very strong teams in our league added to the fact some teams in our league from last season have drastically improved with the signings they have made , there are 10 teams who can gain automatic promotion. Last season the majority of us knew before a ball was kicked that two out the three in automatic would more than likely be wrexham and stockport this season there are more than just the two standouts its simple thats not down playing walsall its admitting the division is a lot stronger all round than last :woman_shrugging:

I don’t think we will be anywhere near relegation, but I can’t see enough to make top 7.

I think the forward line was critical, and we’re pretty much unchanged. Unless we bring in a game changer and I can’t see that.

Away form the obvious issue to improve on last season, only beat 1 of the top 12 away. Lost to the bottom 2. No point having a good home form when we can’t compete away.

Yes, I agree there are strong teams this season too, it would be foolish to dismiss other sides before the season started.

But from Walsalls perspective, 12 months ago it was clear that Mansfield and Stockport were much better placed than us for a promotion push, and Wrexham were always going to be up there with their hollywood money.

Mk Dons should finish above us too remembering they nearly hit to the championship less than 2 years ago.

Whereas at this point in time, I honestly don’t fear another side in the division. I think we’re capable of beating anyone.

Whether that can be translated to a promotion push is where it gets difficult. But we should be trying.

I think we will be relying on loans from now on in. I expect we will have a few triallists on Saturday- my guess is 4: to include a journeyman striker, fullback/midfielder, young winger, goalkeeper. But we still await the 3-4 quality players who will give us some competitive edge.
