The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread 2024 II

Doubt we’ll be signing another experienced striker, as we already have three and doubt we’ll sign a winger as we don’t play a formation with wingers.

Second keeper, second RWB, a midfielder and two young strikers.

2 strikers

Miles off at the moment. No way are we anywhere near the top 7 but probably not bad enough to get relegated either. Have you seen some of the business done by other clubs or choosing to ignore it as its too depressing !

Not good enough!!

If we judge the players and manager on last season and just extrapolate that forward to this season then yes it’s difficult to see how we suddenly become top 3 material from finishing 11th last season, I do however think if you’re glass half full there’s no reason why a number of our existing players and new signings can’t make significant improvements:

Tommy Simkin - top keeper, possibly as good as there is in this division, big upgrade on Jackson Smith
Captain Fantastic - Had a poor season given his incredibly high standards but some fitness issues contributed to that, expect to see better from him this season
The Priest - Looks a colloss when fit, again if we can get him on the pitch and off the treatment table more than last season he will improve us
Okagbue - Young and raw but looked really solid when played in the heart of a back 3, having identified his best position and given his age no reason to see another significant improvement from last season
Barrett - I think having the balance of a natural RWB who has played his career (albeit at a lower level) will improve us immeasurably, sound defensively which will help the back 3 and should improve the assists stats that Knowles gave us from there.
Jellis - Exiting prospect, practically a new signing albeit one who will know the standards expected and already integrated into the squad from his experiences with us in the 2nd half of last season.
Maher - A really good squad option and his loan with Rushall should have really helped him adapt to senior football.
Earring - Barely featured last season but showed his class when he did, even if we could get half a season out of him it would be a big bonus on last season.
Lakin - He will struggle to replicate the raw goals and assists of the Hutch but I think his natural game is much more suited to Sadlers brand of football and lack of possession. All round he may be a better fit.
Gordon - One goal in half a season last year, he’s not a natural scorer but I certainly expect him to improve on those numbers even matching his previous permanent spell with the club.
DJ - As already mentioned if he’s here he has a big contribution to make, if not he will be replaced with someone who made much more of a contribution than he did last year.

Sadler - First season last year and as such he showed naivity at times and will acknowledge he didn’t get everything right, I am sure he will be a much better manager this season for last seasons experiences.

Why wouldn’t that be good enough?

We have enough strikers that don’t score goals.

How about because posters are used to you every season saying the same things and we usually finish around 16th

Its time to change your narrative I think

But you posted the exact same wishlist last Friday?

No, it’s OK, we have that covered. :joy:

So why is he ‘exiting’ already then KingCrod if he is a new signing? :face_with_hand_over_mouth::crazy_face::rofl: (just joking with you, nice post…)

It wasn’t good enough last season, why do you believe that has changed?

Genuine question, I’m not being funny.

No problem, he replied to my post about five more signings not being good enough, despite others saying we need five more.

Five more signings, similar to what we have already made and we’ll be more than fine.

If anything, we don’t need quantity, we need quality.

Which I’m sure will come.

As Shania would say “That Don’t Impress Me Much”

Alvechurch spells the beginning of pre season matches. At this moment in time does anyone else feel we are in a worse position squad wise than when the final whistle was blown on last season. There has to be some behind the scenes activity @WestieJack surely?

I suspect 3 or 4 trialists at Alvechurch. It’ll be guess the players again before kick-off. It’s the only bit of excitement we get!!
It’s all a bit sad!

Loads worse than last season. Something big needs to change. At the moment Trivela totally deserve the budget cut rumors
