One worth keeping an eye on?

However terrible he has been for BR - he scores goals at league 2. Definitely worth a bid

Looks like another Gaffney to me :wink:

He was obviously a very good player when he was at Exeter, and proved he was more than good enough for this Division. Based upon the interview that appeared on Sky News yesterday, can you see Clarke going back and resign a player that, if you read the article, might be one of the players he thinks let him down? If it’s right that Rovers paid £350k for him, I bet they would want a decent chunk of that back. Depending what money Nichols is on, he might think that it’s better just to let his contract run down so that he can get a bigger signing on fee?

His goal record for Rovers has been very poor since he joined them, so you could could argue that he could be one of those players that might be worth taking a punt on if he came at the right price. Similarly, Nichols might think he needs to resurrect his career and could see his next move as an opportunity to do that, and prove himself again.

Probably 4 years ago I would have though he would have been a bit of a coup for us if we had managed to sign, but not so sure now. One of those we could do better, could do worse. For me I would rather invest in a quality right-sided winger.

I see that high riding Swindon have now lost free scoring Doyle, as Bradford have recalled him from his loan spell.

That will no doubt make a big difference to both sides over the second half of the season.

Swindon looking to sign Brett Pitman off Pompey to replace him, but have plenty of competition apparently.

4 goals in 94 games, no thanks

That should be Bradford up then

Will be interesting to see who Swindon replace him with, surely they’ve been expecting and planning for this ever since he hit form for them - Pitman would be a good signing

Yeah not a bad signing to be fair if it comes off, favourites to get him apparently, due to location.

Never been a prolific scorer and wont score the amout of goals Doyle did, but he is the sort of forward we need in place of Gaffney.

Doyle might not have the same impact back at Bradford as he did at Swindon, different players and style of play etc.

I have seen a rumour on twitter that we might be in talks with Kwame Thomas, just left Donny after a short term contract ended.
6’3" CF, so a possible replacement for the Ginger wonder. But not a prolific goalscorer

Sounds like the type of player DC would like tbf - young(ish), has pedigree with England youth teams, has something to prove

Would like us to get a goal scorer if we are in for a striker but I trust DC’s judgement and if he is a replacement for Gaffney then he can’t be any worse

I doubt Kwame would be much of an improvement on Gaffney !!!

I tend to agree, looking over his record, but he did score three goals in six appearances for Rovers.

It would not surprise me to see DC go for Nicholls though, even if his Rovers form has not been great over the past 18 months. But it was DC that signed him from Posh and he does like players he has signed that have played for him in the past.

His best ever form was in this crap league when playing for Exeter, might be what he needs to do to refind that form. He can also play anywhere along the front line, not really a target man though.

Over 160 goals in his career at 31 years of age? Don’t ask for much do you?

Really, I am surprised, didn’t do my homework on that one then.

Didn’t think he had scored as many as that. Wonder how many of those have been over the last three or four seasons though.

Personally I’d like to see us sign a target man to give us a different option up front, Kwame Thomas would fit the bill there, and he’s another one of these that’s reached his mid 20’s without really settling anywhere or playing much football, so might tick DC’s “hungry” requirement.

I’d also ask Deano if we could have Tyreik Wright on loan for the rest of the season, Like McDonald can play on either flank and scores goals.

Someone like andy cook.

Had a mediocre couple of years in the Championship but then scored 24 in 2017/18 and 13 last season while playing in League One. Only 4 so far this season although I do recall him playing a bit deeper when I’ve seen Pompey on TV briefly.

I would imagine Cookie’s permanently hungry.

Nicholls would be a bit of a punt but he has scored goals at this level in the past.

Did anyone else notice the player blowing out of his **** in the background? :joy:

Danny Rowe transfer request accepted by AFC Fylde. Wouldn’t mind us taking a punt on him. Six months left on his contract too so they wouldn’t be demanding the highest of fees.
