The Official Transfer Rumours Thread 2019 summer edition

Agree, he’s now failed at a number of clubs. What has he demonstrated to suggest that will change.

Pretty sure he was booted out of Swindon.

I definitely think there’s something there with Adebayo.

There’s no denying that he hasn’t put it all together in an individual game or been anywhere near consistent enough in his performances. However, earlier in the season his work outside the box was excellent, whilst lately we’ve seen him score some goals from within the six yard box, which shows he’s starting to get in better positions.

He’s worth persevering with IMO.

That’s true. But his finishing, instinct and will to get the ball into the back of the net are woeful. I think he’d be much better off out on the wing. Our version of Lucas Akins, awkward but surprisingly skilful.

Alex Neil is looking to get Gino out on loan - I know he’s another ex player and probably wouldn’t drop down to league 2 but he’d be fantastic on the opposite flank to Wes

With DC saying he wants a couple wide men too it’s got to be worth an enquiry

Still no idea why they signed him to be honest.

Ginnelly would be a great addition. He’s not only a good player he has the right attitude and works hard . Which Clarke demands. Would think he will go to a team in league 1 though.

Yes probably. However, there could be some appeal to come somewhere he is well thought of. Do well here again and he could be in line for a good move to a league one club. The fact he hasn’t played suggests he is not Championship standard. Well not yet anyway.

I think it’s as much to do with the with the way DC likes to set up as it is with the personnel in his system, especially in this 442. Ideally, and especially at home, he wants the threat to come from wide, with one of his two central midfielders dictating from deep (Bates/Guthrie), and the other doing the dirty work (Sinclair/Kinsella)

Up until recently the system has had a massive hole on the opposing wing to McDonald, where nobody can naturally play. Holden has certainly shown signs of improvement but is by no means the permanent solution. Hopefully, for me at least, this is where DC will prioritize any in comings.

I completely agree though that a more attack minded player with experience would be good for the squad, as any change that we make is just a like for like swap

I got slated on here for suggesting Ginnelly a couple of months ago, now everybody wants him, mind you I got slated for suggesting Kamara from Dundee a couple of years ago and look at him now at Rangers, I obviously don’t know a decent player when I see one.

Holden should never play on the right side again it’s not fair to him he really stuggles if he is forced into his right foot.
When he plays centrally he is a different player , and looks dangerous.

Is ginnelly not predominantly left winger though ?

Not sure why you’d get slated, he’s a cracking player and has the right attitude just think we’re one level too low for him now but coming back here could do him and us the world of good

I agree that he’s far more dangerous when played centrally but I wouldn’t say he should never play on the right again. He’s a better option for me at home than Kinsella regardless of his inability to use his right foot. Kinsella is perfect for away games where we need to be more solid, but Holden gives us some extra creativity that we are crying out for

Square pegs in round holes never works

We could still get relegated, but it’s looking less and less likely.
So we either go for the playoffs or spend as little as possible and stay put.
I wonder which it will be…

Dont see why Ginnelly would not want to come back here tbh. When he left I think everyone wished him well especially as he was bettering himself by going to a championship club. Who could blame him for that!!!

He had a good relationship with the fans, and to me it was the start of our demise last season, as we were certainly weaker and poorer without him. Personally I liked him. Not just for as ability to take on players outside wide with pace, but also he did so much running back and marking when were were defending. He also actually made Leahy look reasonable when Josh was playing in front of him… He also scored a couple of cracking goals.

He and Wes together would be an absolutely superb combination. I would welcome him back. I think if DC could convince him that we are going to make a push for the playoffs and not just go through the motions then I think he could sell the move to him.

Ginnelly linked/mentioned in relation to Sunderland loan according tonight’s phone in up here.

Wouldn’t be surprised to see Bruno Andrade from Lincoln after their four signings today…

Bit harsh to see he’s failed already, 3 goals in his last 8 league two games so slowly starting to chip in.
