The Official Transfer Rumours Thread 2019 summer edition

Ur missing the point completely. The chairman coming out talking about a highly competitive playing budget, increased investment to then be contradicted completely by the manager who is basically now saying were miles off being competitive in this awful league. That’s wrong and it’s misleading and the fans deserve better. It’s an embarrassment and whether u like Jeff Bonser or not he would never have allowed a public statements to be made like this that we cannot compete with the likes of Exeter, Crewe, Forest Green

Your argument is specious.

For all the angst and bad feeling re Jeff Bonser he said on many occasions we couldn’t compete with Wba and wolves etc etc. Did he ever say we could not compete with Exeter for example. Its embarrassing

Will Buckley signed back at Bolton til the end of the season.

Why do you keep saying that we should be able to compete with Forest Green Rovers?
Their owner Dale Vince has a personal fortune of £107,000,000. (figure correct at 19th April 2019)
At that time your beloved Jeff had an estimated woth of £3,300,000

So how do you explain our League Two level budget whilst we were operating in League One under Bonser?

If Jeff Bonser was so generous towards his managers, then why did we sign a series of Hereford (relegated from L2) reserves to help us compete in League One prior to the 12/13 season? You can’t blame Pomlett for Clarke not being able to get as much out of seasoned EFL players like; Sinclair, Guthrie, J.Clarke, Liddle, Lavery, Sadler etc as Smith did with; Purkiss, Brandy, Baxendale, Butler, Taylor etc.

Bonser made three good footballing decisions in his time as Chairman; Ray Graydon, Richard Money and Dean Smith. The first he sacked, the second he pulled the rug from underneath him when we were fourth in League One and the third couldn’t be persuaded to finish a job he started.

Could argue that the third also had the rug pulled from under him after keeping us up when he was told £200k would be coming out of his budget two seasons running.

Would’ve happily taken him last season but must be a reason he’s only been at Scunny for last two months (unless he couldn’t stand the commute any longer).

No he mentioned about supporting Bournemouth, Luton or Rotherham…

Indeed, part of the reason they are getting a new ground is that it’s part of a wider business park his business is involved in setting up.

Right hear me out. I was on the point of despair and disgust at the club after the latest bile that’s come out of Clarke’s mouth. Who, considering this is his side and his terrible team selections. Then this is his fault. Fact. I think Geordie said few months back with another great post that successful managers at this club have got it together and got on with it. Clarke uses every excuse under the book and he has lost me now personally.
However, when he mentions clubs we may be out of touch with. He may have a point and this is Regardless of missing money pots, pomlett leading us on and Jeff draining us further.

Now, those clubs I think are:
Mansfield, Salford, Bradford, Plymouth, forest green, Swindon, Scunthorpe and possibly Leyton Orient and Northampton.

The last two hurt but I don’t know their circumstances in relation to ours. As for the other seven, they have far, far wealthier owners or bigger fan bases. It is food for
Thought and still needs to be taken into consideration.

I think Saddlers’ supporters would like to know why we can’t compete in Division 4, FFS, especially after having released all our highest earners from last season and getting over £400k in transfer money. Where is the money going: are we having to pay off the previous chairman’s loans? This would explain why we are skint. When will J W Bonser decide that he’s taken enough money out of the club? Surely he’s made enough money out of OUR club by now?

One thing I’d like to know is: is there an end date when we don’t have to pay nearly half a million every year in rent, or are we saddled with it for ever? If we had taken out a mortgage in 1992 for £250k then we would have paid it off by now. We have been stitched up like a kipper! How does he sleep at night?

Is all this “honesty” from Clarke which tells us our true position in the football pyramid pecking order really going to motivate any floating supporter to turn out to watch this current side play the worst side in the division on a cold Tuesday night in January? We’ll be lucky to get 3,500. What’s the point? We’re just a cash generator to make one man rich!

It’ll be interesting to see if Pomlett keeps the same accountants for the annual report, and to see if it will be any less opaque than Bonser’s heavily redacted ones.

When’s that due exile?

October, I think.

Having to pay £500k a year to enrich one man before we even start might be the key reason!!

Cheers mate and 100% agree with your points it will be very interesting.

What he said…

Looks like the January window has been closed shut on us.
We won’t get a winger, we won’t get a striker, all too familiar.
Let’s just hope that an unwanted Fleetwood defender on loan, and a young Reading reserve who has no league experience, can lift our team enough to disprove that Bescot has become open season to any club looking for an easy 3 point haul.
Anyone taking a bet on Dc’s line up for tomorrow??

Pomlett said clubs in our league pay a lot more than us in rent himself and said it’s not the only issue so let’s not use that as an excuse again.as much as I hate Bonser and always have he’d be getting pelters this season by now
