The treatment table

For the last few seasons, we seem to have had more than our fair share of injuries. So much so it has been difficult to keep track with who’s out with what and for how long. The club tend to pretty opaque in their comms on this too.

So as we go into the new season, I’m gonna have first bash. Feel free to correct me.

Brandon Comley - bost leg out for two months (maybe back in late September)

Donervan Daniels - knee sugery. Back in September

Danny Johnson. Not a virus but the side effects of a virus - back end of August

Jamille Matt. Unknown - back for start of season.

Think Earing is as Matt.

There is a reason why the top teams spend a fortune on Physios, Strength and Conditioning Coaches and those sort of roles

There were people on here the last few seasons wanted to put the injuries down To luck. You just can’t help someone doing a cruciate etc

News flash … you can. Strength training. Managing work loads can build resilience in athletes. Make them LESS susceptible to certain injuries.

I’d imagine we are a million miles off what Whitney was able to do.

Well we have a new team of physios and strength and conditioning staff. They are clearly going to be busy…lets hope they are good.

This is the problem with Matt and Earing in particular they are always injured and can’t be relied on.

Yet both get new contracts.

This is why I’ll continue to Question Trivella despite some on here thinking they’re beyond reproach

Who is making these calls. Budget tied up
In the physio room … not on the pitch ? Is this good management

You were singing Matt’s praises a few months ago. Imploring Trivela to sign ‘more like him’

I love how quickly new topics soon become beating sticks on the club and players, i think the intended purpose of the post was to keep track of players injuries.

Five out injured and were mid way through pre season. Shows us all how important a big squad is. To give the club credit we’ve got two players who can play in every position. Apart from up front of course.

I hope other posters understand that the benefits of this will take time; strength and conditioning improvements don’t happen overnight.

Correct. I personally lose track and have already begun to lose track despite the season having not even started.

That said, it’s a fact of life on UTS and life in general that conversation meanders and detours.

Just be good to see the wood from the trees in terms of the treatment table.

I think keeping track of current injuries on here is a great idea.
I also loose track of who is unfit.

Can you update the OP on a regular basis?
Maybe marking players as “now fit” or similar?

In terms of the treatment table, I suspect that we’re doing rather well. Comfortably top seven would be my guess!

If we look at the current list, only the Matt and Earing injuries (both allegedly slight) are muscular. Comley’s broken leg and Daniels’ knee are not due to poor training, nor DJ’s virus.

Unlike the majority on UTS, I expect DJ to play regularly this season so this early setback is unfortunate.

One thing we were spoilt with during Jon Whitney’s time at the club was injury prevention. Yes we had injuries still but nothing to the scale like we have had over the past few seasons….

Not only this but they also tend to be over optimistic with the timelines they put on recovery. Suggests to me we ain’t got a scooby.

Northern, we can create a table in a post (see below) but this can only be edited by the owner. Simon/Vincent there be an admin post that we could add a similar table into it and is pinned to the top of the thread that is editable by all?

Player Injury Length of Absence Returned to Action
Donervon Daniels Minor knee issue 6-8 weeks No

That’s a very good idea, maybe with the date of injury added?
I wonder if its possible to give editing permission to a few trusted regular users.

Date of injury added is a good idea. Maybe @simon or @vincent could set this up?

Character. Leadership. Ability. Effectiveness in games. He showed he added value back end of the season.

But again … well run clubs have their fingers on the pulse. Is Matt offering value for his wage. Has he got reoccurring injuries etc

All stuff we aren’t privy to. But we are offering deals to players who can’t stay fit.

DD another one who you’d question what’s going on
