The treatment table

Earing maybe (he has had some rotten luck), but Matt actually had our 3rd highest L2 appearances last season (only bettered by Hutch and Liam Gordon). He featured in 38 out of our 46 games, and of the 8 he missed 3 were as unused sub with only 5 missing presumed injured (over 3 separate periods).

Admittedly his minutes-per-game was fairly low, although it did improve in the latter part of the season. OK he rarely played a full 90 - but then one or both our forwards were replaced in most games so he wasn’t one on his own there.

And to be fair to him, in my opinion he looks fitter and more up for it than I thought he did during last pre-season. Time will tell.

From e&S about Daniels.

Speaking after his side’s narrow 1-0 defeat to Birmingham City, Sadler confirmed the defender will miss the start of the new campaign, and said that the injury has affected Daniels’ mental health

Hope he soon recovers.

It’s a c**t that only we get injuries. No wonder we can’t get out of this league, that has been foresaken by someone called god

You mean “Mr God” - or are you claiming to be on first name terms?

You can get more than your fair share

You can carry players who keep picking up certain knocks.

We’ve had several players praise Jon Whitney for how he kept them going at certain points of their careeer

Feels like time to bump this one up.

To my mind, the treatment table currently contains:-

Daniels - knee op. Back in October
Comley - broken leg. Back in October
Farquerharson - Hammy. Back mid September
Josh Gordon - Hammy. Back mid September
Mcentee - unknown . Mid September
Liam Gordon - Swollen knee. Early September
Danny Johnson - Virus - early September
Adomah - unknown but “minor” - early September

Probably got some wrong but eight injured first teamers at this stage isn’t great.

Feel free to put me right if I’ve got these wrong.

Same last few seasons, really worrying, think we need a Chelsea size squad

The only glimmers of light are that we do have a better squad and that, so far, there are no 6 month absences.

No it’s definitely not great , but that’s just the way it’s gone , it happens.
Credit to the management that we have the strongest squad we’ve had for years which hopefully will enable us to maintain our solid start.

Points to serious issues from a strength / conditioning / sports science / treatment perspective at the club.

Getting the football right let’s get this Right

Not just that some players are more susceptible to injuries? The game is littered with players whose careers have been affected by injuries.

Doesn’t point to that at all in my view.Just look at the list above. Two due to in game incidents (3 if you include McEntee), 2 hamstrings to players who are susceptible to them, 1 a longstanding knee problem and one due to a virus. No common denominator at all in my view.It is serious however especially at the back and one more before any of the others return will likely mean a change in system.

Did Sadler mention timeframes then?

Glad they’re all short absences, I know the club’s comms were bugging Comley up about being on his way back.

No. I’ve done a mixture of what has been said about the injuries and Dr PT’s own special prognosis algorithm.

I want more of that then! You’d be like Dr Nick from The Simpsons. Let’s just hope nothing too daft happens at Brum or MK.

Hi everybody!
