I imagine a lot of our players that we are offering deals to are waiting till they know what league we will be in next year.
Any agent worth their salt would be telling them to not sign anything at the moment and wait till then.
Not signing a new deal yet also isn’t an indicator that they’re wanting to leave either. Just playing the game. They can ask for more money if they wait till we are confirmed to be in League One for instance.
Jellis has a year option on him anyway, so less worried about him. More worried about Harry Williams.
Not only that but end of the season offers will come in and they will use those as leverage to get the best deal from us. They will also want to talk to Sads about his plans for L1 if that is where we are, where he’s looking to strengthen and if that means they will continue to get the game time they are currently.
Surely if we wanna keep the players we have then we just offer them the best deal we can… if they dont accept then we should be looking at moving them on
If Freddie did return, which I doubt he will, I would not play him before Matt. He’d be a great substitute for him on the hour but Jamma has been an important player for us (and Lowe) this season.
Maybe if they have written him off as a striker for them it might be worth testing the water for a sale.
He could be Lowes replacement if he’s recalled, now or whenever, and is a made replacement for Jamma when he can’t / doesn’t play anymore.
I understand your point @Mazza01 and I always respect your views on the forum, but Freddie would have to start on the bench because he isn’t ’Sadler’ fit. Jamma can’t play 90 minutes and if there are two games in a week, we have to be really careful with his minutes because he is as much of a Talisman as Lowe.
Perhaps a statto could tell me how many of Lowe’s league goals have come when Jamma has been alongside him: I dare say it would be the vast majority.
If Draper is not wanted by Lincoln, I suspect that Walsall would be his number one destination. I think he started at Derby so there might be family reasons for a return to the Midlands.
Unless DJ and Cleary go, I can’t see both Dipo and Freddie joining; however, I wonder whether DJ would fancy being part of York’s promotion push. Again, he would have to accept being an impact sub after they’ve spent big on Josh Stones; however, the lure of a promotion medal might turn his head. York is also a beautiful part of the world, too…
Be surprised if Comley was allowed to go on loan, we’re short in the midfield department and he’s really useful particularly when looking to close out games.
He was the one player the majority of the fan base wanted signing, so when we did it was like… he’ll be our number one choice striker, but not with MS now apparently…and he is proving his decision so far has been correct.
Draper fits MS game plan better, and he proved he could get him upto the fitness levels required before.
If DJ is only going to get bit parts in this team now then maybe we have to move on.
