Don’t think tranmere will bring as many as I first thought now looking at there sales so far.
I would still say though anything under 6k would be a tad disappointing considering the form the lads are showing and the position we find ourselves in after Xmas.
I agree and it isn’t surprising that people will stay and watch it on the television in view of the cold weather. I shall be there because nothing beats being at matches with friends and fellow fans. UTS
I would expect a big uptake however ( myself included) tomorrow if the club can confirm as early as possible that this game is definitely on as many will wait before purchasing tickets.
My brother mentioned on our group chat also with the game being still in doubt that maybe that it would be a good gesture from the club to remove the extra £2 per ticket on a match day for this one.
Crowd may well be small given weather, 12.30 kick-off and televising. A big triple whammy!
Also anyone hoping to travel a fair distance by early morning trains for a 12.30 ko is almost certain to be screwed, hence i’m not risking it from Wigan
Says the game in doubt? They’ve said no issue haven’t they?
Who said the game was in doubt Gavin77?
As ever for these things it is better for everyone if the call is made early.
If the pitch is taking a stud at say 7am tomorrow then it’ll definitely be on and they should communicate that. If it’s rock hard they should call it off and communicate that at that point.
I think despite the certainty coming from the man with the hot air thingy, the club are being a bit more reticent in their comms. If we win tomorrow we break a club record for consecutive victories. That’s amazing. For this team to do what no Walsall team has managed in over 130 years is phenomenal. I’d be marketing the backside out of that.
At this stage, ticket sales look really disappointing. Ten points clear, game or two in hand and it’s looking sub 5k. Not a great message back from town and fans to owners, management and team.
Anyway, I’ll go 2-0. 5,298 (502).
Winding the clock back the only way to watch a lowering league club like us was to turn up.
Now with Sky involved and fire sticks it’s to the clubs detriment.
-8 (EIGHT) this morning when I got in the motor. Unforgiving conditions, surely they are not continuing with the folly that this game will go ahead?
Well I’m sure it’s not -8 , in that big heated tent above the pitch
It’s freezing cold, just after Christmas so not a lot of money and it’s on tv so I’m not suprised by a low attendance. To be expected however well we are doing
Going for a high scoring 2:1 to Walsall. The ground will be fine, although King Crod is correct in highlighting the need for safety. Please be careful the ice is lethal and we don’t want any accidents. Big Barry is getting the first round in at 0901 at the spoons Wednesbury - breakfast at 0800 if anyone wants to join us. Big Barry is very distinctive. 5 foot 2 inchs and 16 stone. I’m 6 foot 7 and 11 stone, so easy to spot
I hope you didn’t set off after seeing that.
You could look at it another way.
We haven’t played a game for 10 days now. We have a chance to break a club record, I genuinely don’t think enough has been made of this, as PT suggested.
I’d say the kick off time has a big influence on the attendance. I’m not a fan. Football was never meant to be a TV show. You can’t watch a game in the same way on TV anyway, as the camera obviously follows the ball but football in a lot of ways is more about what happens without the ball. It’s obviously not about that though, it’s about money. I seriously think over the next 5-10 years I will drift away from following football altogether.
Fine to drive on icy roads, just not safe to walk through the undercroft
It’s forecast to be -4 from 2am in the morning till just after sunrise around 8am.
It’s going to be totally dependant on whether the precautions taken have worked.
