Trivela Group Takeover

That sale value pretty much confirms it was never for sale until Bonser wanted out. He could have had that years ago but didn’t want to sell.

If bonsor didn’t have his personal reasons for selling he’d have asked for a lot more I’m sure and held out

Does anyone know when will the stadium be payed off?

Thanks for that.
£7.8 million including VAT.

What did Bonsor pay?
Was it £175k?

The twelfth of never and that’s a long, long time

I wonder, are there many clubs who owe their own stadiums, ground it sits et all and pay nothing at all as they own it outright, they are fully paid up on build costs etc therefore make no payments apart from upkeep and such like?

It used to be pretty much all of them.

Some have sold by their owners to get around FFP requirements, other grounds have been sold by their owners for other reasons (Bury for example)

Are there any clubs that used to own the freehold of their own stadium but sold the stadium in order to build a new stadium on land that it did not own, meaning that it would have to pay rent based on the value of the stadium even though it had paid the full cost of building it?

If there are any such clubs, did the person in charge of the club at this time then buy the land at a very low cost so that he could receive an ever-increasing rent from the club?

I think a figure in the region of £6.5m was offered to Bonser in 2011 by Geoff Dance…which is about £9m in 2024 money

Bonser probably made over £5m in rent over the those 13 years

imagine if the club had kept the freehold of stadium and never paid out rent - i can guess we would have approx £15m extra over past 20 years!

can anyone calculate how much Bonser actually leached out of the club?

Well, there is one :rage:

I don’t know how much he’s made but he’s clearly very wealthy and I know that when he needed to pay £10,000 to initially join the board, he borrowed it from a friend as he didn’t have any of it. I know that from a very, very reliable person.

He had nothing to put up and any wealth he has came from us only to be loaned, rented or sold back to us over the years.

He has taken absolutely millions from Walsall FC. An unimaginable sum.

He’s had a lot of offers to sell and always chose to keep milking us. He knew exactly what he was doing from the start.

I’d say that his 200 grand investment has returned him over 25 million when you take into account, rent payments, investment returns over the years plus the 6.5 mill he sold it for.

Great rate of return. I wonder if he does investment seminars…

Didn’t Whalley once say that he deserved a return on his investment for putting the money up. Wish I could find the quote.

Has anyone else made as much out of owning a lower league football club?

Never has so much been earned by one man, for such a small investment and with so little risk.

Does anyone know a journalist who can turn this into a decent story….

It’s such an incredible amount of money to extract from a small club
