Troy Deeney

nah, I don’t treat it as a stick to beat the club. For me it would be good as a kind of mentoring/coaching role, but if he wanted something else sorry, nothing can be done.

No I wouldn’t

He was a very motivational character and leader at his beloved blues .wasn’t there long though was he ? Got a mate who’s a big blues fan quote from him “ Talks a big big game does Troy. Not been fit for a few years and why would it improve now at his age?”

On the Simon Jordan podcast he admitted he had a drinking problem and has only recently stopped drinking. Could be a reason for poor form the last few years. Be interesting to see how he gets on at FGR.

No one tries to bully you into anything. The only bullying that I’ve seen on here is your rather odd campaign against DJT, that pretty much everyone called you out on.

There’s nothing wrong with strong opinions, and holding the club to account when appropriate, which is what the vast majority of people, including me, on here do. When you go so far one way though, you’ve got to accept that people are going to have another view and challenge your own perspective. It doesn’t make them a happy clapper or any other condescending term that gets thrown around.

On topic - Deeney on paper would most probably be an upgrade on Matt, but at this point he’s not had a pre-season and is going to take another 6 weeks at least to get up to speed. As we’ve seen in recent years with players like Stephen Ward, who also had a career at the top level and in international football, once their legs have gone it doesn’t matter how good they were ten years ago. Even Charlie Austin at Swindon, who has had a similar career path to Deeney, is not exactly setting the world alight and that’s with half a season settling in and a full pre-season.

I think there’s plenty to question Trivela on, but this doesn’t seem like one of the most pressing issues.

“No I wouldn’t” :rofl::rofl:

At least you didn’t add a “tbh” I suppose

Absolutely this. I’ve said before this man is a sad individual with too much time on his hands.

There’s a large number on here that have said he makes UTS an unpleasant place to be. Why don’t admins do the right thing and just get rid?

He doesn’t put up a good argument. He is a classic online bully which UTS should distance themselves from.

I think you’re giving him far more gravitas than he deserves by calling him a bully.

He’s a poster that’s obviously not the brightest, who appears when it suits to push certain agendas and who adds little to the forum and is largely a figure of fun on here.

Despite all that, he should not be got rid of unless he goes against the forum rules. He is what he is, never overly abusive to warrant a ban but is just wrong on most things.

For me it’s no coincidence Troy has gone to FGR.
The chairman is a complete media whore desperate for attention,Troy gives him that & Troy loves talking about himself at any given opportunity.

I think you will find he just speaks his mind and has certain views on the new, and the old regimes… but ‘bully’ not a chance…just read some of the responses he gets from a certain set of individuals…they are the bullies! The Mr. Angry’s that turn every single debate into ‘tit for tat’ as to who is the most intelligent, who has the best job, who knows best, and everyone else should kneel down and accept their views as gospel.

Sigh…nearly every single bloody thread, beyond tedious.

In an interview with Deeney a few years ago, he sermed quite bitter about his time at Walsall, so I don’t imagine he’d come here even if we wanted him.

And…dare i suggest we will get more out of Draper this season than we would an aging Deeney.

Interesting take. This website is called ‘UpTheSaddlers’, and has been online for over a quarter of a century to provide a platform for supporters to air their views.

If a particular poster is consistently negative, constantly obsessed with promoting only their opinion, never open to change, and confrontational to a degree that seems deliberate, are they in fact a supporter, or just an incredibly opinionated individual who’s found an outlet for their bloody-mindedness that’s tolerant enough to give them a place to pose?

I’ll reiterate - it’s UP the Saddlers, not ‘moan the feck about everything to do with the Saddlers’. Anyone can set up their own site if that’s what they want to do, but frankly I’ve had enough with certain people dripping constant poison and hiding behind the skirts of their right to an opinion. Yeah, you have one, but don’t expect to get away with it without ever being called out, or pretending your excrement has no aroma.

That’s not directed at you personally, by the way @Worsul4eva , you just gave me the opportunity to use your post as a platform for a reply.

Sounds like slightly off topic

Not sure Deeney was bitter about his whole time at Walsall but he sure was about circumstances around our sell on clause that appeared to scupper his big money move from Watford to Leicester a few years ago.

He really is. He never gives us any credit for his career either just laughs about being pissed all the time. Mick Halsall took him from the scrapheap.

Great player but he seems like a bit of a knob.
