W 2-0 vs Crewe Alexandra (H) - League Two - Tue 26th Dec, 3pm

Yes, I had a dream like that but woke to find many empty bottles of pop strewn on the floor…
Good to see us winning at home like it should be.
The ‘hollywood boys’ will be a good test, lets see how we perform against automatic promotion certainties.

After the shambles at Accrington that was much better. Many excellent individual performances by the team today.
Stirk and Comley caught my eye in particular.
We fully deserved the victory and can look forward to locking horns with Wrexham.

We will beat Wrexham, the Canadians have a long history of disliking the Yanks so will relish pissing on their bonfire

A match fit earing could make a big difference to this team now . Looked pretty sharp today so hopefully not to far off starting games .

Really enjoyed that today.

Lovely to see everyone. Lovely that we’ve changed the Christmas decorations from blue and white to red and gold. And a beautifully competent performance by the team. Having Hutchinson in the side made a huge difference.

He’s frustrating as anything at times but he can make things happen. Both corners today came from some great play from him. There will be times where he offers nowt but he’s a match winner on his day.

Still loads to work on. Some familiar weaknesses even though on the 40th minute today even Knowles stuck in a decent cross (that’ll be the 1 in his 1% crossing effectiveness). We’re still caught between half a dozen ways of playing. You feel Sadler is caught between pragmatism and football zeitgeist. It’ll cost him his job that will.

Anyway, part of Saturday’s nightmare might mitigated. And Walsall helping with the Christmas spirit for once.

Cant see anything other than a 4-0 Saddlers win on Fri night .

Get the goals first half , shut up shop , knock it about a bit second half - making them run around around whilst showcasing our superior technical ability and all round brilliance . We might even feel sorry for them after a while .

Cigars out by 10 pm to celebrate the win , finishing 2023 on a high and impending promotion in 2024.

A long journey back to Wales for the other lot .

Encouraging highlights and opinions from the game today.
Two good goals from two Stirk corners - keep him on them it seems!

We were very good today without being spectacular, on another day might have nicked another 2 goals on the break. Everyone played well. Really chuffed to see Earing on the pitch again and looking surprisingly sharp for his cameo.

More of that. Enjoy your evening lads.

I can’t remember the last time that we managed a game and saw it out like that. Broke up any momentum that Crewe were building but didn’t just sit in and wait for the inevitable to happen. If we’d made the right choice on a couple of occasions on the break then I’m sure we would have ended up with more than the two

Great team performance today with Smith and Farquharson being the pick for me. The only slight criticism I have is I’d have liked to have seen a few more changes given how thick and fast the games are coming over the next few days. That’s very subjective though in thinking we’d have still come away with win

Are you not a Belieber?

Smith. Such a good keeper. Great palm away
Daniels. More of a Daniels esque performance
The priest. A colossus. We missed him
Mcentee. Great glancing header and good defending
Gordon. Very good. Contract expires though in summer
Knowles. Odd player. Final ball is awful but somehow I think we are better with him in the team. Another one who’s contract expires
Hutch. Great play in and around the box. They couldn’t cope with him
Stirk. A definite upgrade on kinsella
Comley. Very solid but should we be looking for better I wonder. Bit of an unsung hero
Draper. Such a frame and so physical for a 19 Yr old
Matt. Deserved a standing ovation. Great hold up play

This is when we look quite decent, if we score first and then play on the counter.

Which is ironic considering we were promised front foot football whatever that is.
