Great night all in.

Proud of the players, the fans, the club and flynn!! How nice too see a team play with pride and effort, the passion from them when we scored shows how bad they want it, been years since we had a team this hungry. Credit MF hes got it working and got everyone fighting the club…

Amazing noise from fans tonight and it deffo feeds the lads on, knowles loved it…

We have got our Walsall back

One of the most professional and comfortable games (if you ignore Evans’ late misjudgment) I’ve seen us have for quite a while.

Said at halftime that we needed to step it up to get the win - and we did. But we didn’t do that at the expense of slackening off with the defensive side of things though and never really looked in danger of conceding.

My guess is that it was deliberate game management by MF - keep it tight for the first 45 then a bit more foot on the gas for the second half and take the game to Doncaster. Agree with @Belphegor that the stats don’t give the full picture as the ball was a lot more in their half than ours - them passing it across the back to no effect or us showing them how to do it when we were in possession. When they did come at us our midfield and defence were solid - work rate was fantastic from every player throughout.

Still a bit puzzled by the White/Bennett formation though. Were they winger and overlapping left back, or wingback and overlapping centre half? Can’t argue about it being effective , but where was the equivalent on the other flank where Gordon was all alone and didn’t venture forward as much as usual?

BTW After the game I heard a rumour that the Salford game might be brought forward to a noon kick off because of the England game at 7pm. Anyone able to confirm/deny this?

That’s stopping me commuting to buying a ticket at the moment

As for the game - bright performance on the front foot a team playing with confidence

Important that nothing off the pitch detracts from momentum over this Christmas period such as the wrong comings and goings

What a lovely feeling to know that we have done our bit now this weekend(as we sit just outside the playoffs ) and we can all sit back and watch the rest.We have clear momentum going into what is always a busy festive period so fingers crossed we can keep the players injury free and everyone can come and watch a team over Christmas and the New Year period that gives their all, can play a bit and look solid and full of confidence.

I’m so glad we aren’t a knee jerk reaction club because almost anywhere else Flynn would have been gone during that 12 match period without a win. He’s clearly an excellent manager in league two who was dealt an extremely bad hand with key players being injured for let’s be honest quite lengthy spells, so if we can carry on playing with confidence and we can have a decent January as regards the window maybe just maybe we can surpass my own expectations and reach the playoffs.

I think they just take turns at being defender and wing-back. But it is a curious arrangement. On the left side, Monthe does not have the same spirit of adventure. But, at times, we have 8 attackers, which is why the forward players are not isolated as Miller always was when he played for us. There is much less fear in the way we play and that probably stems from a confidence in the defence.

Have to say after watching last nights game that we have two players in monthe and Daniels that are so strong at the back and have to be up there with the best partnership in this league.I’ve not looked too much into it tbh but I can’t remember seeing us play a side this season that have had two defenders like that, they might have one but not a pair as strong as this pair.

Should we be thinking about extending Monthe’s contract? Doesn’t it run out at the end of this season?

A tad dissapointing but we were already through anyway. Was able to watch the 2nd half on iPlayer which was an absolute hoot. Mrs Crod had a rollicking good time too.

I do believe he’s out of contract at the end of the season mate and yes absolutely we should.Let’s put it this way I can’t see monthe’s form going like Menayese’s did after a contract was agreed in my opinion so I feel it’s a no brainer to get Monthe secured for at least another year.

After watching the highlights again, Daniels was superb, he is so strong on the ball, and his awareness of where to place the ball

Watching last night in real time I initially thought DJ had cocked up that chance with his touch taking him too close to the keeper, with the keeper making a mistake by not coming for it.

Seeing it back it couldn’t have been a more perfect touch, putting the keeper in two minds, he was always in control. He’s a really top player to have at this level

So are our opponents, it seems.

How about the pass from Daniels to Hutch for the first goal?

A really great away day/night.

There had been some concerns about our away form but we are beginning to put those to bed now. A top performance where we always seemed in control.

Gordon has made a real difference since making the left sided wing back spot his own. Nothing spectacular, steady and solid. Hutchinson has now found some real rhythm and consistency. The balance of the midfield now seems good.

And that Danny Johnson. I love this bloke, so clinical. You don’t see many strikers take it around the keeper these days, nothing better than seeing a goalkeeper left on the floor with an empty net waiting. I really hope we can sign him up.

The fans were brilliant as usual. Stuck with it through some pretty horrible times. I have one very happy 10-year old that has also stuck it out. Beaming smile on his face last night. Better times ahead.

Good win last night, as well as I’ve seen us play live for a few years without been spectacular.

Night took a horrible turn on the way home. As we drove back through Doncaster we were nearly hit by a car coming from the other side of a dual carriage way - the gentleman in that car was wearing a Doncaster shirt presumably on his way home from the game and had had some sort of medical emergency so we were on the scene til about midnight. Just read this morning that he passed away. Sad end to the night, especially when seeing he had been to the football just like us and never made it home. Puts the football into perspective.

What an amazing result, as someone else confirmed at last ā€˜we have our Walsall back’, did not get to see last nights match at all until seeing the highlights, but we look strong, powerful, energetic and positive, such a change after the last few seasons of crud.
Cannot believe we are 8th (for the moment) and certainly it couldn’t be a better time for being away at Salford, they are currently appalling by all accounts.
Keep it up lads, at last we are a joy to watch and thinking about the ā€˜P’ word instead of ā€˜how many points are we clear of the drop zone’.
Good days…UTS.
