We will see on Saturday
. There maybe heavier clouds if we lose.
No you didn’t. I was crap and lost to a bloke I have never lost to before. Anyway a good win on Saturday is what I want now.
The season before was an early kick off
Early kickoffs…I know some prefer them nowadays, but for me it’s got to be the traditional 3 o’clock, don’t think I’ll ever change my mind on it.
Tuesday evenings I can just about except, as they’ve been pretty much standard for how long now, but they do also have a kick on effect with attendances dropping.
You can’t beat the live game and actually being there, watching it on TV is pretty soulless I feel, but if it’s a choice between watching the game or not, then it’s bearable, but only just mind.
Well at least the pub will be open a little earlier Saturday, but it still takes away a lot of the social side time wise of the Saturday games for me.
Just hope we have been working hard at the training ground this week, practising on the final third and getting goals.
We need to beat these inbreds, come on lads.
How right you are about watching games on TV. I know that for some folk who cannot get out or live abroad that the TV is good. A real link to the club and team but for those of us able to go there is nothing like match day. My daughter has SKY and we go there quite often to watch our games but I cannot get involved like I do at Bescot and, of course, that sense of community is missing.
I can’t say I’ve never watched on TV but if it was the only option forever, I’d probably knock football on the head. Even during Covid, even though we had access, I hardly bothered.
If I said to the kids, we can’t go to the game this weekend, their faces would drop through the floor, but when we have it on TV, they get bored so quickly, even if we are winning and often go off and do something else. I haven’t forced this view on them at all, so it is interesting that with such an age difference, they feel exactly the same.
Because in some cases those things do have an effect.
The time and it being on TV being big ones.
Does the TV money offset the lost revenue on the gate and on the day purchase…. Would be interesting to know.
How many more would attend if not on the TV? 200 / 300 possibly?
It maybe clubs rather have a TV game for the £s
Fairly certain at one of the fan forums Pomlett confirmed TV revenue was larger than potential fall in gate receipts etc by a good margin.
It’s time for our Super Saddlers to put on a show in front of the nation with a statement performance and result that really makes our cohorts in the division really sit up and take notice, and I’m backing us to do exactly that.
3-0
Simper hattrick
Your on the Port early again aye ya.
I agree Scoobs.
The desertion of fans this time isn’t about a single catalyst. This isn’t a Dann/Fox/Ricketts moment. This time it’s just about people finding that they didn’t enjoy much of last season. Many got their early birds the year before because even in March it looked impossible for Sadler to mess promotion up. But having committed to last season and not really enjoyed it, many have decided it isn’t for them.
So all of those aggravating factors (KO time, on telly etc) just add to the “and why should I?” rationale that led to many not renewing and/or bothering this season.
It’s a shame because this season’s fayre is far more entertaining but as we know from past experience it’s quite easy to shed hundreds of fans but dead hard to win them back and/or find new ones.
Well put, sums up where I am with it all. Plus I can’t stand Saturday 12.30 kick offs.
He’s sussed you out finally mate ![]()
I agree we are more entertaining, but it’s also true that we have drawn 50% of our games 0-0. That’s hardly likely to draw in casual fans who probably look at the scores and think nothing’s changed. Couple of people have commented to me along those lines.
Absolutely fair.
We’ve got 80% of a really good side. The bit we’re missing is very important. Like playing golf without a putter.
Hopefully Trivela are going to do this season the opposite way to the previous ones in their tenure.
If we are near the top come January will they invest in a proven striker to get us up, rather than dropping out of the playoffs or automatics when a successful loan striker has done the business?
They’ve got to make sure we are scoring enough now though to be up there.
The part that costs money

Yes - unless you grow your own.
And from what I see and understand we have little chance of finding gems embedded in junior football in the West Midlands.
What? Shooting practice went out with ‘inside right’ and ‘left half’ at Walsall matey boy!
When did we last see one of our forwards prepared to ‘shoot on site’ instead of constantly trying to walk the ball in the net? Nearly as bad as sideways and backwards nonsense.
Would be great to see a convincing win on Saturday, but I fear another dullard 0-0 draw.
