Thanks for the info. Is parking easier at Stanmore than Canons Park itself then?

Could care less anymore speculating about whatever team Sadler picks and I’m not going either but like every Walsall fan whose heart rules their head I’m predicting a win. 5/2 the win on Skybet.

I was trying to plot my journey on the tube to cannons park from Kings cross. So I thought I’d take the bakerloo line and change to the jubilee line at wembley park as theres fewer stations on the bakerloo line than the jubilee line, However there is a pop concert with Black Pink (WHO???) at wembley stadium at 5:00pm on that day. So I think I will look for another route.

You mean the Metropolitan Line? Just change earlier at Baker St or Finchley Rd instead

Just get the Metropolitan Line and change at Finchley Road, or Wembley Park if you want a quicker journey. The way back will probably see a lot of Traffic heading the other way for the concert.

Yes I would say so, and easier to get away to the M1 after.

4 piece Korean girl band.
If you’ve heard that APT by Bruno Mars and Rose over the last few months, Rose is one of the Black Pink members.

For anyone coming from New Street and using the London North Western service (not Avanti), you can get off at Harrow & Wealdstone and get a bus for a 10 min ride to Canons Park. Saves going to Euston and then having to go back north.

Do you mean not Avanti?

But then you have to get off at Harrow and Wealdstone … it makes Pleck look somewhat appealing in comparison.

Mat’s prematch thoughts, even mentions XG

I predict an incredibly boring 0-0
Barnet to keep the ball and not do anything with it for long periods
When we have the ball we launch it to Presley and hope for the best for them to recycle posession and keep it again for the next 5 minutes passing between themselves
Sadler to not bother even naming a midfield

Osadebe’s going to score, isn’t he?

He’d have to make it off the bench which he hasn’t managed in the league yet, to be fair.

Clashes between different styles usual produce better games so I think this will be a good game.

1. Positive Outcomes from Stoke Game & Squad Depth

Mat Sadler highlighted numerous positives from the recent match against Stoke, despite a 10-player rotation. The team’s performance indicators were strong:

  • “we outshot them”
  • “we outweighed them in the stuff we out xGed them”
  • “crosses into the box”

The only missing element was a goal. This performance demonstrated the significant strength and depth within the squad. Sadler stated, “it must be so encouraging encouraging for you to see that strength and that depth in the squad.” He further emphasised that competition within the squad is “always there” and that players are “desperate to do well” and “desperate to improve and get better and show what they’re all about.” This healthy internal competition is a key asset.

2. Player Fitness and Integration

  • Priestly: Successfully played 70 minutes, despite cramping at the end. This was a “brilliant” achievement for him, especially in a “tough game out of possession game.”
  • Jakey: Is being carefully integrated into the squad to build up his minutes. Sadler stressed the importance of not expecting too much too soon, as it’s a “big adaptation period like it will be for anyone moving to a different country.” More training and game time are expected to reveal “the very best of Jakey.”

3. Young Player Development

Sadler provided detailed insights into the development of several young players, highlighting their individual journeys and the club’s approach to nurturing talent:

  • Ronan Maher: Sadler has followed Maher’s progress since he was 14 or 15, noting his “real kind of talent and ability” and willingness “to do things that that maybe others weren’t.” Maher has now started “to really kind of grow into his body.” Consistency is key for him. The club’s decision to offer him a “two-year deal at the start of the season for a reason” underscores their belief in his future. Sadler expressed particular pride and protectiveness over Maher, anticipating when his talent “will really blossom and boom out.” The club will be “very careful with what we think to do with him” regarding playing time, especially if other players are currently in the team, as he needs to be “playing week in and week out as well.”
  • Charlie Wragg: Described as a player who “just worked hard,” a compliment from Sadler. Ragy is known for leaving a “mark in their minds and on their ankles as well,” indicating his tenacious play in training. He needs to “continue to work hard and keep developing.”
  • Jensen Kilroy: Has experienced “a real growth spur as well as um growth within himself over the last 12 months,” which has been “great to see and there’s more to go.”
  • Dylan Thomas: Had a “real fast start” as a “very young lad” and is now “adapting to the rig roles of of week in week out and the important thing for him of being a professional week in and week out.” He is “earning it and go and take it” while out on loan at Worcester.

Sadler reiterated that for these young players, “you have to go and earn it and go and take it.”

4. Analysis of Upcoming Opponent: Barnet

Barnet are described as a “very very good football team.” Key characteristics include:

  • They “pass the ball.”
  • They “got really good shape about them.”
  • They have a “group that have been together for some time now and the manager that’s done the same with them.”
  • They move “quickly a good pace in wide areas” and “look to deliver the ball.”

Sadler stated, “I’m under no illusions what a good team that they are.” The focus for Sadler’s team will be on themselves: “making sure we focus on us what we do who we are um how we want to affect the game and and all of the things that make us who we are.”

5. Importance of Away Support

Sadler acknowledged the “large contingent of traveling Walsall fans.” He consistently praises the away support, highlighting the “sacrifices that have to make to go up to the the away games.” He extended his thanks to all supporters attending the Barnet match, wishing them a safe journey.

6. Transfer Window & Squad Contentment

Sadler reiterated his contentment with the current squad, stating, “I am very happy with our squad i think it’s important that I keep saying that because I want to make sure that everyone’s fully aware that that um we’re a very together group of guys who as again as you saw on Tuesday night they’re giving absolutely everything.” He views it as “very disrespectful for me to be going around saying anything other than that because they give everything for us.”

However, he acknowledged the ongoing nature of the transfer window: “the window’s the window and we know that uh things come up and and things get come out there so we got to make a decision of what we do at the right times.” Work continues behind the scenes, but Sadler’s primary message is his satisfaction with the “very good squad here um some fantastic guys some fantastic players.”
