W 2-1 vs Mansfield Town (H) - League Two - Sat 17th Feb, 3pm

Unfortunately if you’re from Walsall or the Black Country we can’t say shit about dodgy accents :rofl:

Wouldn’t say Mansfield have ever been smaller than us, significantly anyways. Always seen them as a similar enough sized club who had a stint in non league.

Decent away day n all

*have just briefly looked at attendances the past 40 years and we piss them out the water though

Historically usually do very well at home to teams managed by Nigel Clough.

Some good wins when he was at Sheffield United and Burton and last season’s win over Mansfield was really the last good league win and performance under Flynn. Did that without DJ and DJT scoring so that was a real false dawn result on the prospects for the second half of that season!

Probably another home loss, 1-3.

Yep similar sized club although their local rivals Chesterfield have had higher spells in the league and I think they’ll be challenging for promotion next season given their current procession in non league.

For the money that’s been put into Mansfield in the last decade it’s pretty embarrassing they haven’t been promoted sooner, indeed their last played in Div 2/league 1 in 2002/03 which greatly surprised me.

Similar to Stockport they’re being backed well and the crowds are coming. Both clubs probs need bigger grounds nowadays.

Would love to know what crowds we’d pull if we actually had a go and capitalised on the attendance boom after covid considering we get over 5,000 just dossing down the bottom

S-A-D = Saddlers Affective Disorder

Football across the board is experiencing a post covid boom. Which is interesting.

If we were actually any good i think we could pull in another 1k a week.

So much for Pomletts “if we get 5k in a week it will transform the club” etc blah blah blah

Yeah probs ain’t wrong we’d potentially be averaging close on 7,000 if we were right up there, which is mental, we barely got that in the championship days

It is crazy, especially when you factor in “Cost of living” ,all clubs are experiencing the same though.

Why you’ve gotta capitalise cos soon enough we will be back down to 3-4,000 hardcore.

The likes of Stockport and Mansfield have no doubt caught a complete new generation of fans.

“ What else are you gonna do on a Saturday? Sit in your fkin’ armchair wankin’ off to Pop Idols? Then try and avoid your wife’s gaze as you struggle to come to terms with your sexless marriage? Then go and spunk your wages on kebabs, fruit machines and brasses? Fl that for a laugh! I know what I’d rather do. Tottenham away, love it!”

This has always been a thing with Walsall though, we have an aging fanbase i suspect. However i do see a lot more young faces around than we did 10 years ago. Its a good thing.

Dont quote that it will make me dig the credit card out for a bloody season ticket again :joy:

I predict Aden Flint scoring again . Have no idea what the final score will be .

Could be close to 2k of Thier fans in attendance

Anything less than 9.2 will be seen as a good result by some and sadler.

If we scored twice , lets hope it the first two so that we are on good spirits for at least ten minutes

I genuinely think if this club is out of league 1 for a decade (which looks pretty likely based on current form) you’d get 7k just for the novelty of being back in the league (and of course 7-8 of clubs down there have very good away followings).

So there would be short term attendance bounce and that’s when you’d like to think Trivela would have the nous to capitalise on that in a way the Bonser crew from mid 2000s simply couldn’t.
