W 2-1 vs Salford City (H) - League Two - Mon 1st April, 3pm

Delighted for faal after his recent finishing debacles . Will do his confidence a world of good
Nice to see Matt back making a nuisance and got a goal
Gordon is still an absolute waste of space as per usual

You cant have it both ways. Say he made bad decisions but also won the game!

Some takeaways from today:

I thought Foulkes was very poor today and clearly got targeted by the opposition. Not his fault because he’s young and inexperienced. I would like to see if Oteh could play as a RWB but Knowles is currently a big miss.

Midfield was very outclassed. Badly miss Earing and with Notts County soon, there is a strong argument to have McEntee in the midfield if he’s fit.

Stirk did well when he came on. I thought that Comley was immense; however, his challenge on Lund in the first five minutes was a nailed on yellow card.

Matt v Tilt was brilliant. So much stuff off the ball that the officials missed.

A word on Hutchinson: even when he plays ‘average’, he would be the one player that opposition managers would have in their team. Quality assist today (again) and he always looked to find an opening.

To be controversial, I thought DJT did okay. As for Flash, his work rate was great but he is not very good and I hope that we can find better in the summer.

Delighted with the win. To grind out a result showed great character and points are far more important than performances at this stage. Credit to Sadler for stretching the game and bringing on DJ for Foulkes: I genuinely believe that many managers would have brought on Daniels to counteract the threat of Matt Smith but Sadler was very front foot in the final stages.

Although Salford looked a good team, they are full of horrible moaners, divers and cheats: their right winger and their number 9 were both cracking footballers but they should get themselves a pair of banjos, because all they did was squeal like pigs!

Fantastic result and puts us right back in the play off mix. I think there was an air of tension today which wore heavily on the players but full credit to them for their never say die attitude, lesser teams would have crumbled but we kept going and got our just rewards. Also again the sarcastic cheering and jeering of substitutions is quite frankly pathetic, especially when there is still something on the game and at this stage of the season for the first time in many years. Why can’t we just get behind Sadler and the team?

I thought DJT did ok today. When you realise the comparative youth of our team compared to the experienced players Salford have that was a good win despite a poor performance especially in the first half.

I noticed that in the second half, until DJ came on, the average age of the eleven must have been around the 23 mark. Bodes well for the future, especially when Salford have Mariapa who must be about 37 now!

It is worse than pathetic. It undermines our team and the manager.I just don’t get it!

Thought it was a 5/10 performance with a 9/10 result. We are just so bad on the ball, it’s so frustrating.

On Hutch - he cuts a frustrated figure. Cause he is absolutely quality but anything we do on the ball has to go through him, so of course he is going to look poor at times - but over 90 minutes he still ends up the best player in red on the pitch. Get’s targeted and marked closer than anyone else from opposition too, they know he is our only option, especially when Earing isn’t on. He has been more selfish the past few weeks and that is probably just a morale thing.

Comley was brilliant, that was a proper Adam Chambers esque performance. Would have been my MOTM.

DJT & Gordon - the less said the better. At least Josh tries - DJT didn’t really look interested to me.

There is a player in Faal, he just needs the confidence that comes with a few goals and performances. Looks like he is thinking too much or trying too hard - like he is tense. Today he just put his foot through it and that gave him the luck he needed.

Playoffs still in reach but for me it’s a bridge too far this season. From set plays we are a playoff level team or above, but in possession we are bottom half. That needs to be addressed next season.

Yes how dare paying fans voice an opinion.

Harsh on Foulkes. I thought he was fine, and allowed us to play Adegboyega in his actual position. He actually had made a great run second half too that Hutchinson ignored to cut inside and spanner a shot into a defender that he’d have been able to have a shot at least from.

Only just realised that their number 9, Hendry, is the son of Colin. Makes me feel old because I remember a spell when Kenny Dalglish (I think) played him up top with David Speedie before they signed a certain Alan Shearer for Blackburn!

After he came off for Matt Smith, Smith had a chance that I’m sure that Hendry would have dispatched! And as for Lund’s miss from six yards out in the first half: that has to be miss of the season, as far as I’m concerned!

Lucky today but it makes a change to have decisions go your way…

Massive help today not dishing out a daft penalty as per last 4 games.

April and the season isn’t dead with the same manager as when the season began. Incremental progress.

Can anyone translate that for me, some Scouse in there that I couldn’t make out. I just think he needs to ‘calm down, calm down’ a bit…,

He actually made a great run second half too distracted a defender who had to cover his run that allowed Hutchinson to get a shot away that was inches from hitting the bottom corner.

There you go, corrected for you :rofl:

No, you didn’t  the shot that went just wide was a different occasion.

Fair enough…I didnt spot the overlap on another occasion just that one….either way it’s good movement from Foulkes even if he doesn’t get the ball it shows good intent.

I did feel he had a tricky afternoon though….wasnt ever much time on the ball for anyone, him included so it was always frantic

I know it sounds harsh, but I can understand why Sadler isn’t sure about Joe Foulkes. There was a spell in the first half when every time he got the ball, he gave it away.

Adegboyega, on the other hand, looks very composed and accomplished. I suspect that Norwich may not be willing to sell him; however, he would be the kind of statement signing that would make me think that Trivela are steering the ship into smoother waters. I think it was his pass that released Faal for his goal; if we do make the play offs the loan signing of Adegboyega will look an inspired one!

I thought DJ and Matt would’ve been the best option to start today so to not have DJ come on ahead of DJT and Faal was frustrating.

I don’t mind DJT though and think he did OK. Faal has got potential but has missed too many big chances. Whilst I was frustrated I don’t agree with booing whether that’s because of the actual decision or because you don’t like the player.

At the end of the day can we all just at least appreciate that a player entering the pitch to loud boos isn’t inviting nor encouraging. I do think we need to be mindful of this as it’s similar to how Matt was treated earlier in the season 100%

If you need to boo do it at full time imo. At 1-1 anything can happen, like it did today. Whether we agree with decisions or not I think it’s important to be mindful of the impact it might have on our players and their confidence.
