Definitely seemed confident enough having a try from 40 yards!
All the talk about Miller and trying to get him full time which will be tricky given he’s a championship player.
To me the obvious one to get would be Rollin. Given Mansfield loaned him out to another league 2 side he obviously dosen’t have much future so would ask what they want for him and try to get him on 2 1/2 year deal as he’s obvious one with good potential from what I’ve seen.
I think the fact that the Salford players hardly bothered to close them down made it easier for our central defenders to look comfortable on the ball.
For me, the midfield were poor, we don’t play through midfield often enough, pass along the back and then long balls into the channels. When we drove a t them we looked really dangerous, especially the Earing run at the end. Also, why are our passes so soft and slow? We need crisper and faster passing.
What did you think of the game Ramred?
In the end it turned out to be a great result. Sometimes getting a last minute winner seems to make getting a win all that bit extra special.
Started both halves really well and scoring after 28 seconds is a dream start, but again I found it so frustrating that after our 15 minute spells we seem to be clueless how to get and retain the ball. Despite that we had another good chance through Miller, one on one, which whilst wasn’t easy he made it too easy for the keeper to save.
For me Salford didn’t look at all threatening in the first half despite having alot of possession. Second half we started strong again, and again created and either missed or took the wrong decision on several more chances. Miller probably had his poorest game for me today with the execution of his couple of chances and he got no joy with the centre halves marking him. Not helped by Trevor Kettle who seemed quite happy to let the Salford defenders try to rip his shirt off every time the ball was played up to him. But fair play to him he never gave up and tried constantly to be a pain in the arse to them.
Having said that it was disappointing to again concede the way we did with what was Salford’s only real attack and effort on goal. This really needs sorting and quickly. Don’t particularly want to pick on individuals but Ward struggled again when he was under pressure down the flanks, but then he put in probably our best crosses going forward. A bit of a conundrum for Taylor!!
Overall a happy Saddler as a win is a win. Today showed what a huge loss Wilkinson has been for us this past month. He is class when he has the ball and took his goal really well. Seemed no where near match fit for me and was probably thrown on by Taylor in desperation. But it worked. For me it was no coincidence that after he came on Miller seemed to find more space as Salford’s back four had more to deal with as we had far more movement up front and across the pitch. Getting him fully fit is huge!!!
Special mention to Osadebe as well who I thought had a good game. Still tries to be too clever at times but grew as the game went on.
Just watched the post match presser with MT. Absolutely loved it. Especially the last minute talking the fans about wanting a football team that represents us well and fights. That’s certainly what I want and expect anyway. And we are most certainly, desperate to get behind them, despite what some may think.
Great to get a last minute winner for once!
The start was obviously fantastic, but we didn’t really seem to push on after the opening goal and the game just drifted to half-time only livened up by Kettle deciding he wanted to be the centre of attention for a couple of minutes.
The second half was much better, with the tempo, pressing and intensity at a completely different level. It was so refreshing to have the attacking subs available today and it meant that as soon as we started to lose energy we had two fresh outlets to call upon.
The goal we conceded was obviously not great, but at least we didn’t crumble like against Bristol Rovers and the late winner should give the players the confidence and belief that they can come back from adversity in games.
I thought Monthe and Rollin were excellent both in terms of their general defensive work and even their distribution, whilst Earing continues to look every bit a good EFL midfielder. Special mention to Osadebe aswell today, thought he linked the play well and looks like he’s benefiting from a consistent run in the same position.
My MOM today is Enniskillen, hats off to ya, any chance of coming every week, ask LP for the fare,
Comes across so well does MT
I must admit when I heard of the last minute winner my first thoughts were Enniskillen.
Just hope he didn’t miss the start and leave early.
Good result today, still need a number ten and if Robson kanu joins he will be a great addition if he has a winning attitude.
Down side £5 to bring a freind, me and my sons brought 3 with us 2 friends who never been before pity, this wasn’t taken up more.
Quality finishes for both of our goals and we were the better side throughout
Other than falling asleep on one corner I thought we looked solid at the back also.
The only big worry for me is Stephen Ward. Obviously a quality player in his time but his legs have absolutely gone and he is a bit a liability right now. I would like to see more of Sam Perry too (probably ahead of Earing)
Happy with that. Well done the lads.
Brilliant win. Good crowd. Things looking up.
UTS
I thought Ward was good today as was White.I didn’t see any sign he is finished today. In fact all the back four did ok for me.
Have you? I seem to remember telling you Kinsella wasn’t the issue, but the lack of creativity next to him and shipping him out to right back wasn’t the issue
Go back years… I’ve said the same thing, it’s the combination of both in the middle that’s the problem. Kinsella has been part of that problem, because he doesn’t pick the ball up and play through lines the same way Earring does in the holding role. I’ve literally wittered on about this for years. Glad you are finally realising
I’d take Labadie over Kinsella in that more slightly advanced of Earring role, every day of the week.
Not how I remember it but ok
For what it’s worth neither of them should be playing advanced of Earing and I thought that was a problem today. And if you’ve watched both Kinsella and Labadie this season and prefer Labadie to Kinsella I find that … surprising.
