You think in pro football they have time for that each time they have the ball or do you think hey have patterns of play that they work on endlessly where people make runs into certain zones so you can play quickly and without looking sometimes?

Ok mate you have your opinion based on the dog and duck and the ball moving at a snails pace and I have mine having seen how it works and knowing how they train :+1:

It looked shite. It was the wrong decsion.

But look at Oisin Mcentees header v Blackburn and where it was from and then look at two corners from the Morecambe game that went to the exact same spot…

The difference sometimes is simply the other person doesn’t do their job and it makes it look like a bad ball……

Romaine sawyers got abuse for years for miss placing passes but it was usually a good ball that no one was running on to.
Just saying👍

I’ve been on 4 nights this week so haven’t seen us against Blackburn. I’m talking about that passage of play and hutch had all the time in this world! But you seem to know what they’re doing in training and where players should be on a counter attack so we will leave it there. At the end of the day we both want walsall to win and hutch to perform but the difference is if he isn’t I think we should drag him off ( or any player who isn’t ) and you think he should remain on no matter what. Let’s see what Sadler does tomorrow

Good luck mate.

Bringing my lad to his first game tomorrow, just hoping we can put in a decent performance and sneak a 2-1 win.

Yeah an I’m just saying that saying that players will sometime sparky a pass to an area where they think someone should be running and in the time and speed they need to play at you play on instinct not by standing and looking or waiting.

Ultimately It was a poor decision but actually over the course of the game he managed to pass to a Walsall player more times than anyone other than Hussey….

Surely by your logic Riley should’ve seen that he keeper wasn’t covering the right side of his goal and just scored instead of drubbing until he was challenged and fell over?

But I don’t see the same forensic criticism of that….

No i wouldn’t have taken him off because players like that win you a game in an instant….late on he had a driving run that released Gordon who should’ve done better and he also had a shot blocked that could’ve or should’ve tested the keeper. If either of those come to fruition we nick a point.

If he’s failing to do that regularly that’s a different matter…but I posted before his goals and assists won us more points than DJs goals and assists last season so yes I think he’s that important to stay on (as I do DJ!)

Funnily enough Haaland has just analysed his first goal tonight and said that he knew Rodri was going to head back to an certain area and that he knew he had to attack the spot the ball was going land in in order to score.

Rodri most definitely didn’t look to see if Haaland was there he headed to where he expected him to be in after repeatedly doing it at training.

If Haaland doesn’t make that run everyone wants to know why Rodri heads it to no one instead of heading at goal….

Tbf in a normal passage of play you would be right but in that passage it was 4 against 3 in their favour ( if I remember correctly) and Johnson played it out to hutch and Johnson and djt went into the box and he passed it to the edge of the box with no1 there and both strikers went barmy and everyone around me did! There’s no excuse for it whichever way you wanna spin it. I probably sound like an hutch hater but I ain’t. He’s the most talented player we’ve got and he should and will start tomorrow but when it’s not happening for him save him and bring him off. That’s all I’m saying. Let’s be a coupon breaker and win tomorrow and hopefully the boy wonder gets the winner

And for the record I expect more from hutch than any other player cause the kid got all the talent in the world at this level, Similar to foden , I expect bigger things from them than riley or in city case Kyle Walker :joy:

Trust me so did I!!!

I’ve just been surprised at the level of criticism that went his way (not by anyone in particular just in general) after a team performance where most if not all were below par…

My own personal feeling is players like that, as frustrating as they are need to be persevered with more often than what I’d call for want of a better word, a ‘normal’ player…

With you on that tomorrow….it’ll be tough but 3 points would be very appreciated!

I think we’ve come to common ground :joy:. I do over analyse him cause I expect big things from the kid this season and he was way from it last week. I went to morecambe last weekend and got dropped off at work after and worked.12 hour night shift ( finished at 7am) and had a lot of time to dwell on what I’d witnessed and hutch came into my thought a lot during that time but tomorrow another day and game and let’s see what happens.

Having just rewatched the incident in question: a) it was DJT who played in Hutch not DJ (and, to my mind, slightly over hit it and forced him a little bit wider), b) Hutch actually slows down and looks up before making the attempted pass (he didn’t just lump it into a percentage area), c) the intended recipient was Gordon (who was coming through unchallenged to the edge of the box) not DJ or DJT who were around the 6 yard box and marked, d) he played it way too far in front of Gordon and too hard (especially for a left-footer coming onto a ball) so it went straight across to the sole Morecambe player futher over on the edge of the area.

In conclusion - he picked the right ball but just played it very badly.

In contrast, Foulkes’ ball to Tierney at Blackburn was the right choice and played absolutely perfectly - and he too looked and didn’t just hit and hope.

On the general point of playing the ball into a danger area and it being up to the other players to be there for it - yes, I agree you do have a point @CompletelySaddled. All those great balls we’ve all seen slid across the face of goal begging to be put in but no one gambling on them - but that wasn’t the case here.

Oh, nearly forgot - Gordon actually throws his hands up at Hutch in disgust at how bad the pass was.

I stand corrected!. I just remember the passage of play and it being them 3 with dj coming forward with it . I haven’t watched it back but I just remember being in disbelief.

DJ was involved with a lovely stun of the ball into Doug’s path - and then he spun away to get into position around the box. The whole move was pretty good - up until the last pass. :see_no_evil:

We are analyzing this pretty deeply even for me……:rofl:

Hutch looks up but in my mind that’s to check where the covering defenders are and maybe to check Gordon is getting there on the underlap….

You’re correct he executes the pass badly, but I wasn’t suggesting that it was one of those balls flashed across goal for someone to gamble on…but it was a pass from a set move knowing someone (Gordon) would be making that run for the strike on goal…and then he executed it terribly…that’s not up for debate

What I would say is having just watched it again, it would’ve taken hell of a ball to find DJ or DJT (see below) and neither expressed any annoyance or frustration afterwards…almost like they expected it to be set back to the edge.

Bottom line is he made a mess of it…but that happens…sometimes you have a bad day at the office…however I get and shared the frustration at the time that he of all players we would expect him to get it right

At the time I was crying out for him to beat his man and drill it across goal….from the photo that still looks the best option…

Looks impossible from that photo :joy: that isn’t how it looked from where I was standing and everyone around me and the strikers reactions. Fair enough from that and it takes some going back to get that haha. I respect ur stance and dedication. I thought I was relentless but fair play.

75th min how did you even chase that back?

So much of the content from the club relates back to the fans and appreciation for loyal support. And then it takes a type of appeal tone to hope we dont get on the players back.

We’re not that bad right? Hope it doesn’t add a sense of worry or fear to the team.

Its not Wolves or WBA where we fight our own players or smash the place up!

Haha….we’re all the same in that respect…it looks so different on tv to how it looked in the game….it works both ways…sometimes it’s a much truer view from the stand and sometimes the tv gives it a better look…

I just remembered it was late on and flicked on the replay at 70mins and almost went straight to it :rofl:

Listen we’re all saying the same thing essentially…he ballsed up the actual pass
