It’s felt like that at times tbh with the way we turn on the players ( not defending the players cause some of the performances have been disgusting) but chanting we’re f**king shit at orient away last season so early was utterly stupid and resulted in me and my mate arguing with our own fans
I always wonder if those chants come from legit fans or just villa supporting mates.
I know it sounds soft but it would be great if we could get a bond with this group of players. I think it changed after Smith era for obvious reasons. Before that we always had close ties to the majority of the team.
Il never forget Jorges last game and the emotion of his goodbye!
True fans mate. I’ve been on coaches with people who go home and away a lot of games who have done it. They pay and spend their time so they have the right to voice their view but the players we’ve got we’ve gotta work with and need to do a job so it doesn’t help. To even think the people ain’t proper fans etc is mistaken cause last season at orient it was die hard ones who go away every week.
I don’t do it myself and it isn’t helpful in anyway.
I think we have been shit for so long now, following Walsall away isn’t always a lot of fun (once the game begins) I think it is a bit of Walsall gallows humour. I know there have been a few incidents at several games where things have got a bit more heated than that, but in general, I think that is just what it is, even if I don’t agree with it.
Funny enough I find away games better than home games. At least the atmosphere great. At home for atmosphere ( never mind the food and drink ) I think we’re 1. Of the worst hime fans at bescot.
Your right about the players. I think we have a bigger impact as fans these days.
I didnt get to go towards the end of last year as I was deployed from November through to the end of May. Making up for it this year.
I remember taking my mates (not officially walsall fans) away years ago to Gillingham and Darlington, all the proper crap ones etc. Going to Barr Beacon as a lad meant not many Walsall fans in my year group.
Pay your money fair enough but it doesnt help. Counter productive.
I went to a stag doo last season in Romania and I got back the Sunday then went to Wimbledon away on the Tuesday night and it was the most horrible hangover and depression I’ve ever witnessed. I hope nobody else including Swindon fans never have to feel like I did ever again lol
Yeah I know that. But I mean how many away games have we won in the past 5 years? I don’t know but I bet it doesn’t total up to many.
That’s where it is coming from I reckon, just a build up of not being very good for quite a long time.
I only have gillingham and Accrington to tick off this season so that’s all I’m taking from it in terms of away games
Since we’ve been in League 2, we’ve won 17 league away games from a possible 87 games.
Any chance we could stop obsessing over hutch on every match thread? decent player but he is miles away from some of the players we have had in his position in the not too distant past i like him but he has a lot to do to play above the level he is currently at.
Sorry to hear that. I’ve had cancer myself and all i could do was just keep going. I beat it with the help from my friends and family who kept me sane through it. Bit shitty advice but all i can say is, stay strong, keep going and hopefully you’ll kick cancers arse
We need a win today because once the first one comes with the way we are playing now the rest will follow. If we continue to lose but perform well it’ll eventually drain the players and performances would drop in my opinion.
Definitely mate, we need to build some confidence early on and get some momentum, Sads is going to want the same as much as we do if we are to do anything in this godforsaken league.
Was really looking forward to this game, but I’ve come down with covid so will have to give it a miss, hopefully i can watch a 3-1 win for the mighty saddlers on ifollow.
Home form is key at any level I just hope they don’t shrink into their shells and play with some freedom instead. They are bound to be nervous it’s the first home game of the season and I reckon there will be a fair few there so keeping those fans coming back will help going forwards.
People are now just carrying on with their day to day life and working with covid, you don’t have to miss the game if you don’t want to, unless you feel unwell and don’t want to go , or are you just being considerate for others.
I think it’s a real chance for Sadler to show he’s different to Flynn today - and so we see Foulkes and Tierney come in - along with Hutch.
I don’t think he will move from the 352 personally - but it was really noticeable how more threatening we looked in the last 25 against Blackburn moving to the 4231/442. There was a lot more control in the attacking movements, compared to being more on the break in the first half.
I hope we see some front foot aggressive attacking football today - and we let another team worry about us for once. That’s why I think you still have to respect the opposition in every game, so having the screen or Stirk and Comley in a back 4 works - but we don’t need Stirkley if you’ve got a back 5 for me - especially at home.
Let’s see what happens! UTS
I sit next to a lady in advancing years, if i passed it on to her and she got seriously ill, I’d never forgive myself.
As @RedandWhite says, there are no longer any legal restrictions on you having to isolate if you have Covid (although NHS advice is still to stay home). If you are up to attending but want to avoid spreading the virus, you could wear a mask and avoid getting too close to others?
