W 3-0 vs Morecambe (H) - League Two - Tue 20th Feb, 7:45pm

I bet that you wouldn’t have gone down like a sack of spuds, like their centre back (Stokes) did in the build up to our third goal! :cat2::wink::stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

An outstanding all round team performance, given the circumstances against a high quality L2 outfit and on the back of the exertions and emotion of Saturday it was for me the best performance of the season. Jan Sorenson would have been purring at that performance and the attacking verve and flair at it’s heart, a terrific tribute to the big man.

The task now is to get at our near these performance levels on a consistent basis, if we can do this then we could be in for a very exciting close to the season.

@P.T i suppose mate. But i can think of 3 occasions where they had a simple 5 or 6 yard pass to a team mate and ended up just being sloppy and giving us a throw-in.

Whether that was general sloppiness or we put them under the cosh I dont know - i thought they were a poor team last night, to be honest.

They are similar to us in some respects, i believe their main man that scored the goals was recalled from his loan spell.

It’s reassuring to know we’re at least in for these players even if we don’t sign them.

Yes, Michael Mellon, on loan from Burnley My Burnley supporting mate says he’s well thought of, and he played well for them against us on the opening day… He’s been loaned back out to Dundee.

If we were to beat Harrogate, who are 7th, we go above them!

Was in Morecambe a few weeks ago on business. Thank god it has an enormous trading estate on the outskirts…the town is dead, when and if ever the government’s Eden project takes off they will get 7 tourists a day instead of 5! Good points…they have public toilets, a park and a reknown music shop…end of.

What is their Manager on? What match did he watch? Certainly wasn’t at the Bescot…think he was smashed giving that interview. better side my *rse!

The fact they subbed 15 stokes off said it all

How has Manny not been playing watching him he seems to have everything a modern centre back needs? really impressed so far with him.

He’d been booked for talking back to the referee and Jamma bullied him all night

Fun fact, number 15 for them last night, we had him on trial in pre season 14 years ago :grinning:

We’ve put ourselves back within touching distance of the (whisper it) playoffs  again and I’m hoping we don’t do what we’ve done (which seems to be a good few times) this season and hit a rocky patch again and drop away.It would be nice to finish strongly and even if we don’t quite make it we could take the positivity of a strong end of season into the pre season and the start of next season with a few savvy signings and have a real good go at it.

I thought that too when i saw the highlights. Quite ridiculous and serves him right that we scored. Happy days.

There was talk years ago of a Walsall couple on a Autumn holiday, booked a mystery tour and finished up at the Arboretum Illuminations,

My uncle used to tell me it. Went home, had a cup of tea, then went back on the coach, according to him.

I can remember in the seventies some wolves fans went on a mystery coach trip and they all had a bet on where they were going and the driver won

Yep was some friends of my mom and dad so I was told, and I was told they popped home for a cuppa as well.
I do wonder if it’s one of those urban myths that someone made up as a joke and before you knew it everyone knew someone who knew someone it happened to but nobody can tell you ohh, that was Jack and Joan or paul and Jane, but definately remember my dad telling another friend that it had happened to someone they knew.

I was wondering the same thing. But,likewise, I think my uncle used a specific name of someone he knew, rather than it just being a story he’d heard. I can’t remember the name now, but if my uncle knew him, it was likely to be someone who worked at Crabtrees, used Chuckery WMC or grew up in Pleck. Don’t know if that chimes with the one you heard.

I have heard that story too…I think it is likely to be true because in its heyday there were coaches coming to the lights from across the Country.

I have Scottish and London relatives and they always timed there visits to Walsall to take in the illuminations in the 60/70s was a massive tourist attraction in those days .
