W 4-0 vs Hartlepool United (H) - League Two - Sat 30th July, 3pm

Not sure I’d want him to bring the professionalism down to be honest would you mate?

Agreed, if you you asked “would you drop someone from today to bring him back in?” It would be a flat no.

There isn’t a spot available for Labadie - he doesn’t have the attitude or the energy to be in this team. He can’t do Kinsella’s job, or Comley’s job, or Hutchinson’s job better than they can. Not to mention others who aren’t in the starting XI at the moment - Earing, Riley and Flynn Clarke. I think if he hadn’t injured himself Flynn would have looked to move him on. As it is, I think a few token appearances is the best he can hope for.

A word for Taylor Allen, who I thought was likely to be a temporary stand in while Gordon was out - he was excellent today and thoroughly deserves his starting place.

What a fantastic performance! Micky Flynn’s barmy army!!!:red_circle::green_circle:

To echo what many have said, that was the best performance I have seen by a Walsall team in, at the very least, 5 years.

Impressive, incisive, looked like we knew what to do at all time, strong, and dominant in the right areas at the right time.

Hutchinson is class. Done well to get him, Rooney wanted to keep him at Derby and you can see why.

Impressed with everyone today, to a man. Not one was under an 8/10.

Hard to judge anything based on one game as you don’t know how poor Hartlepool are in reality, but if we press like that and keep that tempo going then it’s up to other teams to worry about us, rather than us setting up to deal with them.

It’s nice to actually have something to get out of my seat for!

Special mention for Danny Johnson, what a striker. Literally he is everything you want in a main striker and the power he’s produced there for two of his goals at least is immense. If Osadebe had hit a ball as hard as Johnson did for his first that rebounded off the keeper, he’d have broken his foot.

So glad we don’t have any dossers around now.

If Labadie were to get back into the team, he would seriously slow it down. The team movement today was outstanding.

Actually pressing for more goals even at 2 3 4 nil was so refreshing.

Better than anything I’ve seen for 5 years. Genuinely.

The defence looks rock solid. I think we may be caught out for pace at some point this season, but we won’t be caught out for nouse or muscle. Monthe is so good for this level and Clarke ran the show back there.

Taylor Allen was a live wire and I liked Bennett when he came on.

Impressed with Comley, but not as impressed as I was with Kinsella (again).

Hurchinson, lovely touch and composure, really tidy player.

And Johnson, how he’s not the right fit for Mansfield I don’t know. They must have some pretty good strikers!

Special mention also to Douglas James-Taylor for a 15 minute cameo where he had one good effort well saved and a great assist to set up Timmy Abraham.
Hopefully proves some people wrong and proves to be a more than useful squad member.

Sounds like a great performance, but worth remembering half their team were a bunch of rejects in the league that made Ash Taylor look like Van Dijk!

They were bad, but we made them look worse with our constant pressure.

Unless of course someone gets injured, then you can drop them and bring Labadie back in!:yum:

Seriously though, it’s great to hear how well we played today, and as a team that was organised, all knew their roles and what they had to do, as well as the fact that we kept pressing when 2 or 3 ahead and didn’t sit back on a 1 goal lead which we have done in the past. Maybe we have been watching the lionesses for some inspiration over the last few weeks!!!

Mine can…she can piss and whinge at the same time.
